Pre Op Weight Loss

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am scheduled for November 6th.....I have lost 33 lbs since surgery. How much have you lost in the Pre op phase of this journey?

Are you thinking you dont need the surgery?

Second thoughts cross my mind all the time.

Hi Kim, I'm a Kim too. Way to go on the pre-op weightloss! I lost 11 pounds pre-op, and I actually wish I had worked harder at it. I have a long history of losing and regaining, I've lost over 100 pounds twice in 37 years of life, so there is no doubt that I can lose the weight, but there is with certainty that I know I can't keep it off. For me, the sleeve would help to never get as big as I was (282) at my first consultation. Even though I know that I still have to work at it, I'll never gain all that weight back, and I'm happy with that. Good Luck on whatever you decide.

I have lost hundreds of pounds before the sleeve, and was never able to keep the weight off. Never. It always came back, plus some. This is the longest I have ever maintained a weight I was happy at. Ever! Best decision of my life.

I as well have lost weight in the past but never been able to keep it off. Since I started my pre-surgery journey in July I have lost 44 lbs. My pre-surgery 5% weight loss I met by my second appointment with Dr. I think knowing that the sleeve is a tool that is going to help me maintain weight loss and finally be at a healthy weight keeps me motivated. I've had many people tell me that I can lose the weight and don't need surgery but what they don't understand is how hard it is to keep the weight off once you lose it. I've been there and done that many times before.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
