Dating .. Are U Ready To Be Back In The Game?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone

I am definitely still far far away from my goal but i am just wondering whether there is anyone who feel cant be bothered to go on a date after the surgery? I know its a very silly question to be asked but after since i have my surgery and have been losing weight, i have not really adapt to my new body. Simply put i just feel still much going on with me to the point i cant be bothered to focus on anything else.

My doctor only tell me about the benefit / risk of the surgery, but no one explain to me about the psychological effect from losing massive smount of weight and adjusting to new body ( especially for me who have been fat since i was a kid haha).

Sorry again for the stupid question .. AnywAy thanks for reading it and all the best for all of u!

It kinda makes me nervous too...I broke up with someone about a month before surgery...He said he was scared and didnt want to lose me, not because of the surgery, but because I was/will lost/loose alot of weight (I lost 41lbs pre-op)...Ugh. No signs of getting back together...My mother, being super supportive, said that there is a different type of man out there from the ones that I have dated in the past. I always felt that I had to have something extra to hide my weight. We will be in a totally different game...I do feel that eventually I will be too bothered to go on a date, because I'll too many offers of course, lol B) but really its alot for someone to take in and I really just want to concentrate on myself for a while til I am comfortable with my body.

I had surgery 9/19. Close to six weeks post op..lost 39 lbs incl pre op diet. I worry about meeting someone in the future and having loose skin and being embarrassed to become intimate. I don't know how I will look when the weight really starts to drop but I am a bit worried about that.

I feel the same way! I also don't know how to tell someone new about my surgery and what not

I agree with you! It can be such a private matter (it is for me at least) that sharing that with someone is out of my comfort zone. To be honest, my children and family/friends don't know. Only 3 people in my circle are aware.

Ok....here are my thoughts on this. It's quite simple, but its true!

Once you are naked....the significant other is just glad you ARE naked. :)

Now, in saying that, I will be sure to do my part and get some cardio and weight training in to minimize the skin! Lol

I love this topic! I met the love of my life 1 year ago Exacty. I was about 3 months post op when we went on our 1st date, and still 200+ pounds he definately was aware of my tiny appetite. He has been supportive and open to all my surgery and body issues. I feel like its the first time I have had a relationship where I wasn't settling! What I am getting at is: it is so much easier to attract a great person when you love yourself.

That is wonderful that you are so happy!! I think you are right about loving yourself first and of course the confidence! I've settled in the past too many times, and I think as the weight drops further, confidence will follow. I'm released this Sunday to return to the gym too so that will help with loose skin concerns.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
