SleeveShelly 75 Posted October 29, 2012 I waited for what seemed like 9 long months to have the sleeve. By the time I went through all of the hoops of Dr appointments, psych eval, weight loss seminar and whatever else, I was so excited to have this done!! Well I was sleeved on 9/12 and have lost 37 lbs. Starting out at 325 I knew I finally had the tool to make this work. Nothing hardly makes me sick and I have been on regular foods. Now all of a sudden, I just want junk food. What has happened to me? Is nothing going to work for me? I am tired of being fat!!!!
Ready 2 Fly 22 Posted October 29, 2012 Try reading these books: Mindless Eating and Intuitave Eating. It really helped me to re- evaluate my eating habits. I still have these urges, but I am much more aware of the choices I make. 3 chad2rad, CarolinePT09 and COnative reacted to this
COnative 192 Posted October 29, 2012 Is it period time? LOL It is for me and I have had two little pieces of chocolate and man did they save my life. All joking aside I feel you. I crave anything that is fatty. I mean anything. But we can do this right?! We got this! We aren't going to be perfect! So that being said- we still can't eat what we could! It's a struggle for me to even eat 1000 calories a day and if I eat it all in chocolate one day- SO BE IT! But I think you are doing great- just know you aren't alone. Hang in there- you will do it. I think that book recommendation sounds really good- I am definitely going to look in to it. 1 Fiddleman reacted to this
lollyfidy1965 402 Posted October 29, 2012 I recommend "The End of Overeating.". It speaks to how the food manufacturers intentionally manipulate the sugar, fat, and salt content in foods, in order to trigger a chemical response in your brain that is identical to the one caused by heroine or cocaine. It played a huge roll in my changed relationship with foods....particularly processed "junk" foods. 2 hadouni and COnative reacted to this
Eat That Frog 53 Posted October 30, 2012 Old habits are hard to break. I am 7 weeks out and for the first 5 weeks I had no interest in food. Now I am starting to think about "bad" food from time to time. I don't keep any in the house, that helps. I do have several sugar free options on hand. I have had a couple of bites of "bad" food, and so far just a bite seems to satisfy me. I am brainwashed to believe that eating a large quantity of "bad" food would probably make me sick, so that is saving me for now. What are you craving? Anything specific? 1 COnative reacted to this

robynluevano 85 Posted October 30, 2012 I didn't crave junk food per say, but I was just very hungry all week. It was my TOM though, so I say that is why. I'm not normally hungry so I can only relate it to that. Sent from my iPhone using VST

Remember, you are trying to change years, if not a lifetime of bad eating habits. The longer you go with good habits the more natural they will seem. What are you craving? Is it stuff like chips & chocolate, or more like pastas & breads?
Fiddleman 4,376 Posted October 30, 2012 I had a moment this evening when watching TV. TGIF had this ad for a sale on juicy steak and jumbo coconut shrimp. Weird part is I was kind of disgusted by the dripping steak, but I twinged on the shrimp. We used to have those all the time in prior life. It was just a moment though and was gone from my conscious just as fast as it entered. I thought: this is strange. I haven't really been anything but on plan, even my thoughts. No trouble whatsoever. So why are the darn twinges sneaking back in??? Maybe there is no answer to that one. LOL!

Its usually 4 decent sized shrimp, and is always plenty to fill me up! AND....shrimp has next to no calories! YAY!
cherrybombknits 184 Posted October 30, 2012 A packet of pretzel M&M's and I had a staredown last night at the drugstore checkout stand. I won, but it wasn't easy. I miss crunchy foods! 2 lollyfidy1965 and Fiddleman reacted to this

I miss crunchy foods![/quote'] There are edemame (spelling) in the produce section by where the salad nuts and stuff are. They are roasted and slightly salted. They are high in Protein. I bring a 1/4 cup into the movies with me!!! I just chew them up real good. I LOVE the crunchy stuff!!! Also I take a slice of american cheese- cut it into 6 smaller pieces and microwave for about a minute. It's like a cheese-it!!

When I start to want "bad" foods it means I forgot to eat enough food, I have a meal. 4oz. And I am usually good. I use sugar free popcycles as sort of a fun food. I am also going to support groups and am taking my food addiction real serious, I am addicted to sugar. My nut says she has never seen a single person who tries to eat their trigger food in a controlled way not regain their weight. Not a single person. And with that I say, pass the PROTIEN please. :-)))
