I just want to be selfish for a minute and vent. I am 4 mths out and have reached my goal weight of 165. And guess what........nobody cares ! Not my friend that had a sleeve done a year ago yep that same one I supported from day one. Which included picking her up at 330am the day of her surgery. Most certainly not my pregnant Aunt who has had 2 children since her gastric bypass and is pregnant again. Yep the same Aunt I drove from Dallas to Houston to be with when she had surgery despite being 7 mths pregnant at the time. Then come two of my other friends who I love dearly . One I can always count on but she is struggling with her weight and trying to do it the "natural" way as she says so I keep my milestones to myself. The other has been hospitalized on and off the entire month since having the Duodenal switch done. I get it life goes on for them but guess what the same applies to me and I still manage to go above and beyond for my friends. It kind of hurts to get more compliments from my coworkers and patients in my office then those closest to me.

That hurts a lot, I am glad you have somewhere to vent. The other good thing is you know what's bothering you, you expressed it, and you are not sitting there eating your feelings away. Your family and friends are very fortunate to have you in their lives. Keep paying attention to YOU, the hard part has arrived, the lifestyle of maintaining your goal weight, RIGHT ON!

You seem like you are an amazing person. Putting others before ourselves is a great thing...but sometimes we only end up neglecting ourselves. Maybe you need to reevaluate those in your life. I have read and heard many stories of people who have this weight loss surgery done that certain relationships change or become nonexistant. Stay positive and focus a little on yourself and Celebrate the victories! You deserve that!

Girl you will do great! Thank you everyone for your well wishes. I don't want to come across as the victim. I just don't want to have to pretend I'm not happy that my size 10 jeans are a lil baggy! I want to brag just a lil :)

I'm so proud for you doing all that wonderful weight loss so what your friends on saying thing trust and believe they are thinking it. Don't worry they will come around. But it is important for US to voice that we are disappointed. Let them know you need to hear it...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
