Teri Barowsky Hooper 22 Posted January 15, 2013 I am losing a lot slower than most of you guys (which can be frustrating). I am following my doctor's orders thoroughly. It might be that I am older than some (I'm 55). I'm on several medications that cause weight gain and they may be causing me to lose slower. I did Water aerobics before surgery and have continued with that so I know it's not from lack of exercise. I can't up my exercising much without causing a fibromyalgia flare up but I can try to increase it slowly over many months. I use myfitnesspal to record what I'm eating to make sure I'm on track. I'm down 31 pounds and I'm happy with that until I come to this site and read where everyone else is.

I'm struggling with exercise and fibromyalgia too. I stopped taking lyrica cause it does promote weigh gain. Maybe talk to your doctor about that ! Congrats on success so far xoxo
Teri Barowsky Hooper 22 Posted January 15, 2013 I am weaning down my Lyrica dose to see how I do. I actually don't take Lyrica for fibro, I take it for chronic Migraines. It is the only thing that works for those. I tried almost everything for them and nothing helped by Lyrica. You have to titrate down slowly for fear of seizures. I have since had a total hysterectomy because of uterine cancer so I'm hoping that has changed things in the Migraine department. Until I get my Lyrica dose down I won't know. You have a lot going on with your body ! Taking weightloss slow and steady might be ideal ... Lyrica scares me. We had an incident with a family friend taking it ... Bad outcome ... I weaned myself off immediately. The older I get ... The less I want to be seeking help from drugs for relief. Chronic migraines have to be one of the worst to live with. My friend is a sufferer ... She lives in hell daily. Have you tried Botox for them? Or acupuncture ? Those two have given her relief for the first time in years. I think you have done an awesome job so far. Don't be discouraged if your loss is a tiny bit less. Your body has been through way more ... I think it's amazing and makes you a really strong person. Congratulations Teri xoxoxo
Teri Barowsky Hooper 22 Posted January 15, 2013 Thanks. I have done acupuncture weekly for years. It helps with my fibro but has done little for my Migraines. I have allergic reactions to botox. One of the problems with fibro is that most patients are hypersensitive to medications and other things. I am a textbook case. LOL

Don't worry!I was sleeved on Nov 7th and am down only 34 lbs and I even had 10 days straight where I was unable to eat and was in hospital.I started with a BMI of 39.9 day of surgery and now it is 33.7 I am trying to get to a bmi of 24. I have noticed a lot of people with higher bmi than me are losing at a faster rate. I am not gonna complain much though loss is loss I am just glad to see the scale going in reverse:)
tommyd 125 Posted February 5, 2013 How is everyone doing? I'm 3 months and close to personal goal. My doctor revised my goal and I have passed it. The only problem I'm having is people telling me I'm losing too much weight. I'm 5'9" and 186. I'm trying to get to 175 and see how I feel. My goal from the beginning has been flexible.I just want to be at a weight I can maintain and feel comfortable.
soocalchic 1,087 Posted February 5, 2013 I'm 5'8 and everyone tells me I look skeletal at 180 I'm still 219 so have about 40 lbs to go but then again all my family is hefty so their judgment is skewed lol
Teri Barowsky Hooper 22 Posted February 5, 2013 I am amazed at how much weight everyone else has lost. I do not want to compare myself to others because I know there are lots of variables that affect weight loss. I'm happy with my progress until I come on here and see how much everyone else has lost. I exercise, track my food, and follow the directions my doctor has given me but it is coming off very slowly. It makes me sad.
