Comppliments = Eating?!

Recommended Posts

I have been trying to lose weight for my insurance and I've found (in the past I've been the same way) when people start noticing and saying I look good, I want to eat everything!! I had someone tell me that it was probably because I was getting noticed and I'm not used to that. Has anyone else ever gone through this?! Weightloss is so hard! I get my surgery date tomorrow so I'm trying to get my mind straightened out before I have the surgery.

I hate the attention I get when I lose weight! But I want to lose all of this excess weight so bad! I feel that at least with the sleeve it will help me to keep it off, cause I want to be healthy.

Have you talked to a therapist? I haven't had the surgery yet, but I'm seeing a therapist and he told me how he had a VSG patient that gained all the weight back because she was uncomfortable with attention from men since she was raped at a young age...remember this is a tool and if you don't use it right when you get it, you can gain the weight back. I've decided that I am going to keep seeing my therapist as long as my insurance covers it to help me with my stress and depression to keep me on the right track with this weight loss....hope everything goes well for you.

I've lost 35 lbs and I'm already getting attention. I think it makes me a bit nervous so I want to eat. I ate raw cookie dough today! Guess a shrink is a good idea..

Although not required, I think I should see one about my weight. My mother used to each chips and Cheetos in front of us kids but not allow us to have any. She hid candy in her bedroom (we would steal a little here and there). She would only buy the yucky cheap Cereal she knew would last forever and then tell us if we were hungry, we could eat the cereal, she would always serve herself first and best. Ugh. When I finally married and moved out, I could eat everything and anything I wanted. Ok - not a good thing. I swore iwould NEVER do that to my children. I never tell my kids they can't have anything I'm having. I teach them moderation. They're both skinny and food does not rule them. I'm happy about that. For me though, the damage is done - now I need to undo it!!!

      Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
      What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

      I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
