4 Days Post Op- No Hunger Yet

Recommended Posts

Can't say I feel full all the time, but I just don't feel hungry at all. I've been around food and I do miss being able to eat certain things, but I don't have a desire for it yet. Thank goodness!

I've had some chicken broth but I don't know what feeling I'm supposed to have when I'm full. Other than feeling everything I drink going into my stomach and gurgling a bit, I don't know how to tell when I'm full and I'm afraid to find out!

I am a 5 wks out. I do have the belching and it is when I'm full, hungry, and more when constipated . My gurgling has stopped. I felt the fullness with liquids but everyone is different. If I drank to much I would get nauseous so I started paying attention to what restriction felt like. When you get there you will know. But don't really worry about restriction or fullness while on liquids is what I was told by my surgeon/nut. I still don't feel hungry unless I have gone all day without any intake. Bad as it is I have done this. It's hard to get everything down sometimes especially when I'm constipated. TMI but it's so true.

I'm am 6 days out. I'm the same way, no appetite and I find things taste bad but i think it is because I don't feel like having anything. I'm gurgling too. It got better when I started takings a stronger antacid. It is worse when you can't go to the bathroom. I fixed that and I feel better. The tightness when I drink is such a weird feeling. It's uncomfortable mostly. I hope it gets better too.

It gets better, just make sure you get your Vitamins and as much liquid as you can. I still have trouble eating and I'm almost 6 weeks out. food just has no appeal to me whether its the texture or taste.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
