Message Board for TLBC Patients

Recommended Posts

Like Drs Coburn/Mumford, TLBC has also started a message board (accessible from their website: www.tlbc.ca).

They also have a "TLBC Buddy Program".

I just registered for the online support forum (msg board) so I haven't been able to use it yet...so am unable to provide a review on user friendliness etc. I'll know more once I have been accepted as a registrant.

Any other TLBC pers tried it out at all?

It's not all mandatory. ICQ is a chat program (like msn messenger)....if you don't have it, you can just leave it blank. Actually, even if you do have it, you can leave it blank.

As for the other stuff, I will have to go look again.

Yes i looked in my e-mail and it said it was invalid til i clicked on link. I did that and it still said invalid user name and password. I get frustrated not knowing what i am doing wrong.

Hmm... where you would enter your username and password, look for somewhere you can click 'forgot my password', it'll ask for your username and email address, and then either send you a new password, or remind you of what yours is. If that doesn't do it, let me know, and I'll contact the admin or moderator for you, ok?

LOL, sorry... I'm an idiot. You can still try that, but I won't be able to help you if that doesn't work! I didn't realize I was posting in the TLBC message board post, and not the Cobourn one! Whoops!

Yoda: I have registered at TLBC message board and activated my account, but I'm unable to post messages or start threads?

Have you tried?

Carol

Yeah, I registered too but have been unable to log on. I thought maybe it was because I got the "activation" e-mail (they are suppposed to send you instructions on how to activate your account) but that it was deleted as spam/junk by mistake....either automatically or by our spam program. I e-mailed Kathy yesterday to ask about it....ie. to either have another activation e-mail sent or whatever. If it wasn't her, I asked her to fwd my e-mail to the appropriate person. I haven't heard back yet.

Carol and Loriely: if you are also having probs, e-mail Kathy...if they get enough "problem" e-mails maybe they will make the system better or easier to understand?

So, long answer to say that I haven't been able to "log in" either!!!

I'll let you know what, if anything I hear back.

Thanks Yoda: I have been trying to reach Kathy via email for 1-1/2 weeks now to make a fill appt for Oct 23. I hesitate to contact by phone because at either business I have no privacy and don't want to risk anyone overhearing the nature of my phone call.

Kathy has yet to answer me, If don't hear from her by noon today I will have to attempt a phone call....if I do call her I will ask about the message board.

Carol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
