I used Miralax last night and haven't gone yet. Is it safe to take another dose now? I need to get things moving before work on Monday. I see people all day and can't just run to the bathroom mid conversation lol!

take milk of magnesia, I assure you, it will work today!

A little, nothing worth writing home about. Crap. I'm trying to get my fluids up to see if that helps.

I take one gummie Fiber everyday, colace everyday and I still have to use miralax every other day. If not my stomach tighens up and hurts like hell. I had trouble before surgery, but now it is alot worse. I do what I have to do cause I dont like the swelling and hurting in the stomach.

Miralax is amazing. I used to rake it every day, now I'm down to every other or every 3rd day. Does not give you cramps or pain. It's a laxative, but not a stimulant. And it's very safe!

Yes. You should be just fine. My daughter use to take miralax once in the morning and once in the evening. She did this daily for over a year as per the GI doctors instructions. She was only 13 at the time.

Thanks for all the input. I got some gummie fibers from costco. Hopefully that will help me go on my own.

I'm almost a year out and still have this problem, so annoying! I still have times where I wont go for days! I take colace everyday and every few try to take miralax or something similar.

I think for most of us its just something we will have to deal with.

I wish I had this problem, seriously! I am 7 days post op and ever since I got home I have had the opposite happen, diarrhea every day! Imodium only helps temporarily, not enough to warrant even taking it :-(. Just started my week of full liquids and praying it stops this week!

I am so glad I found this forum. I know it is a horrible subject, but I have been having a lot of problems like some of you. I am almost 4wks post op and have gone about two times since surgery. I was taking 2 colace in the morning and 2 at night....nothing happening. Then I started getting very nauseated, and with every bite of food horrible stomach cramps. I went 7 days without a BM and finally called dr. He said take 1 tablespoon of Milk of Mag and drink 2 glasses of Water. Nothing happened, called him back same instructions except this time add Metamucil 3x a day....tiny BM, nothing to write home about. Still feeling very bloated, and stomach cramps with just about any food. Still taking the metamucil (expect switched to Benefiber) 3x a day, and no relief! Do you guys think that the miralax is better than the milk of mag? Milk of mag a stimulant, so surgeon really not wanting me to take. Also have not lost one pound in the last 9 days. Is that normal????? Help, I am feeling so frustrated. I have been trying to eat so healthy, exercise and drinking tons of Water. Is it normal to feel cramping while you are eating?

Would appreciate any suggestions or help.

This should gradually go away as you start to add more solid foods.

I sure hope so, but of course I am so worried about over eating that maybe it is a good thing I get stomach cramps because then I just stop eating. How long ago did you have your sleeve?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
