My Experience With Dr. Garcia & Ready 4 A Change In Tijuana

Recommended Posts

Dr. Garcia was a wonderful surgeon. He spent time with me before the surgery going over what he would be doing and answering any questions I might have about the surgery. He was very friendly and his English was pretty good to very good. We didn't have much of a language barrier at all. The nurses were very friendly and competent although the language barrier was a problem from time to time and we did a lot of gesturing to figure things out. Dr. Garcia came in to check on me himself after surgery and also the day of my release. He made sure any questions I had were answered and that I was assured that my surgery had gone very well. He did emphasize that I needed to keep walking in order to get the gas out of my system and to help alleviate any pain I was having. He also made sure that I knew to follow the aftercare plan and that I had the phone numbers to contact them afterwards in case I had any questions once I got back to the US. I highly recommend Dr Garcia and the staff at Ready 4 a Change including Alma, Melissa, Rosie and Samuel. They are all so friendly and willing to answer your questions at a drop of a hat. I could call at almost any hour and get ahold of someone to answer my questions which was a big relief. Not only was Dr. Garcia a competent and worthy surgeon, but his bedside manner was bar none. I would recommend using Dr. Garcia and most definitely the staff at Ready 4 a Change to anyone. They are a wonderful company and I consider them friends now.

I totally agree with your feelings about Dr Garcia and Ready4Achange, they did a terrific job in July when I was there.

Dr. Garcia and Ready 4 a Change staff are the best. I had been pondering this surgery for years since 2008. I saw myself on a picture and immediately I knew I had to do something. I had been watching lots of you tube videos on the surgery and decided one day I will find the best surgeon, listening to some of the videos someone mentioned "Ready 4 A Change", not only do they have a great name but the results from people were incredible.

I put down my deposit, in 1 month I was ready. I told myself you gotta do this because my body ached, I was getting bigger and bigger and pain all over my body. I was treated like a queen. Stayed in the best hotel per Marriot Tijana, and in 24 hours had surgery and was up and walking. God was with me. He promised. I was positive and made everyone else positive too. It was private yet happy 7 people had surgery same time as me. Many of us were very private.........in one week I lost 10 pounds and felt great. I had no complications at all. 2 weeks later constipated, but took medication they gave me up until completion. 10 weeks post op I am 33 pounds down. People are starting to notice. I feel pretty good, hurt my ankle so have not yet really worked out, but on my way and excited. Ready for A change Needs to Advertise more with the names...

All The Best.........Pretty Cali Girl Sleeved.

My wife and I had sleeve through Dr. Garcia. We are a month out now and have lost over 40lbs each (we did lose 10 pre-op though!). I loved the staff at Dr. Garcia's and would recommend it to anyone. The hospital isn't stunningly beautiful or brand new but it was clean and the staff to me was better than any staff I have seen at a hospital in the USA. The nurses were very attentive and a lot of them were very attractive to boot! My wife had a tough time with lots of vomiting on the night after surgery and the nurses were in her room non-stop helping her out and just being great overall. Also one of the doctors, the blonde that does the in house care, had sleeve done a year or more ago and looks amazing.

The Marriott was super nice and we actually went to the "Caliente" casino which is right behind the hotel. We got all the Soups and popsicles we needed from the hotel as well.

I went to Ready4Achange because someone on here recommended them and I don't regret it one bit. Dr. Garcia was great!

I can not say enough wonderful things about my experience with Ready 4 a Change in Tijuana....Dr. Garcia, Alma and all of the staff attended to my every need around the clock.  Yes, the hospital was a little older but very clean, very orderly, everthing ran like clock work.  I would give a bit of advice and that would be Do Not Eat Sweets and before surgery, one lady had horrible dumping symptoms.

I ate and drank and did not know the consequences.  Throwing up all over the place at a Wedding..OMG how embarrasing.

I had lost 20 lbs right after surgery and was stunning at the wedding but kept eating hordores that went down well.  It was hot and we were outside and I did not know about waiting for 30-1 hour before drinking anything and OMG.  I ate again and vomited all over the table at the wedding....OMG.

I gracefully got up from the table put my napkin on my plate and was still cute.............................So before having surgery make up your mind to really stop sugary foods and carbs..Have food ready when you get home like apple sauce, yogurt and Soups, eggs, Protein Powder, I have way to much, and after almost 3 months still have not used half of it.  My weight loss seems slower than others and I found out there are certain foods I can not eat.  I am amazed what I can and can not eat post op.  No more chicken.  I almost hate any form of chicken, but 3 weeks out I could it turkey tacos, pork streaded tacos, soft scrambled eggs the first week, grits, love cottage cheese, string cheeses, the body is still healing 3 months out so be careful and try foods.  No longer can I eat spicy foods, but expensive steak goes down wonderful,,,,,,,,,,,,I love it.  Although I lost almost 38 lbs in 3 months I can easily gain 1 lb up and down so I am learning to really do Protein Shakes and drinks in replace of food when I want that one pound off.  I also challenge myself to loose 2 lbs a week at 4 weeks that's 8-10 lbs a month.  In 12 months that's 120 lbs.

I would never have been able to do this without the sleeve.

Thank You Dr, Garcia for everything........I will shout it from the roof top Dr. Garcia at Ready 4 A Change is the Place to Go for Self-Pay Surgery or If your insurance pays go for it.

Thank You for saving my life and getting my life back.

Beautiful CaliMexi Girl

I had my surgery just over a year ago with Dr. Garcia and I could not be happier with where I am. I am down almost 120 pounds, with only 6 more to go before I reach my goal weight. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Garcia and his staff. I know Dr. Garcia isn't one of the "big names" that you see advertising all over this site and drawing in the masses, but his surgical skills are excellent and his staff is amazing. I have not had one moment of complications since my surgery and I give credit to my surgeon for doing an excellent job. I can honestly say that Dr. Garcia has added years to my life, not just any years, but good years that I will be able to enjoy because I am healthy. Thank you Dr. Garcia!!!

Thank you so much my friend for your encouragement and how I should be progressing. I have not had a real rewarding time exercising, everyone says my body is adjusting to loosing pounds so fast. I do thank God I am seeing 240 but I will be glad to see 160 -158 like you. Amazingly I can eat a lot of things especially very early on, but my favorite things I can not eat and actully gag at chicken, rice and Pasta which were my favorites. Occassionally I have a sweet tooth but that's probably cause I been single way to long. Tell me what you do as a eating routine and work out routine and how you got all those pounds off. I need 90 more lbs off. What I love about the sleeve it is not impossible to think I lost 40 lbs in 3 months blows my mind. I still cant eat or drink at the same time, yesterday I had a steak taco, it was so good, I was craving the meat. Earlier I had tea so I think I was to full, but maybe you can give me some advice because definitely if I eat and drink I throw up. I can eat 2-3 bites of anything and I am full which I love eating like a skinny girl.

So tell me your story and what to do.....

Blessings,

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
