Whole Foods

Recommended Posts

Does anyone shop here? One just opened up in my neighborhood. I'm looking for quick easy tips for meals. I'm post sleeve, almost 3 months out. Only restriction is low carbs.

Thanks.

Woohoo! I love Whole Foods! They have some ready made food near the deli/cheese/salad area. It's a great place to shop. Tends to cost more than Walmart, think more mid-price range.

I LOVE Whole Foods! Lots of organic produce and items you won't find at "regular" grocery stores. Plenty of speciality foods so you will probably find some great low carb options (I'm not following a low carb diet so while I'm conscientious of carbs, I'm OK with up to about 90/day - though I'm usually around 45-50).

Check out the salad dressings, sauces, etc. by Walden Farms (you can find a limited selection at many grocery stores but can also order directly from Walden Farms. ZERO CARBS and they actually taste good!

Hope you enjoy exploring Whole Foods!

Wow! Thanks for the tips!! A Trader Jo's is also opening up in a few weeks, but it's not quite as close as WF's is. Is Trader Jo's a good place too? I've read people talking on here about it.

Trader Joe's is my favorite. Not quite as 'healthy' but lots of great food @ cheap prices that you can only find there. Have fun!

The Whole Foods that I go to has a Soup bar outside different sections in the store and I have to say I LOVE LOVE LOVE the cioppino Soup (outside the fish market). It's low cal and I believe decent Protein. We actually went there tonight to eat and listen to the band they had in the store. (Suprisingly I like the Caribbean Crab soup now too, although it's a bit spicy!)

Trader Joe's is pretty nice too, but I'm on a liquid diet so I can't comment too much on it ... yet.

Well per MFP, 3 oz of Whole Foods cioppino is 67.8 calories and 1.8 g of fat but only 2.3 g of Protein. Ah boo... well it's still low calorie and soooo tasty! (The caribbean crab wasn't bad either, surprisingly, go figure). Enjoy it getting there! Best of luck all!

Definitely a whole foods lover here. I would recommend buying meat elsewhere as it can get expensive, however when its on sale go for it...

Their selection of lettuces is the best, look at their prepared veggies section (the ones that are still raw, but chopped up and pre packaged in-store). One of the reasons ive been so successful at mostly eating salad is because their prepared raw veggies. Buy some organic lettuce, some cut up peppers/cucumbers, cherry tomatoes... you get the point.

If your not much of a salad person, you need to make salads the most convenient thing to make, you'll start eating it just because how convenient it is to make.

Oh, and GREAT wine selection, with people who actually know how to recommend a wine.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
