I was wondering the same but not with food. I have to take my thyroid medication before i eat anything and when i take a small drink to swallow it i can tell my stomach is a little restricted right away in the morning.

I've been drinking Muscle Milk Lite in the morning (8oz early, before going to the gym, and 8oz around 10am, after the gym). lunch is typically my "big" meal for the day...usually 2 oz of lean Protein, and low-fat string cheese (1 or 2), or 1/4 cup fat-free cottage cheese. In the afternoon I'll usually have a little snack...a couple baby carrots with 2 TBSP hummus, or a string cheese (if I only had 1 at lunch). dinner is usually the meal I struggle the most with, often only able to eat 1 oz of lean meat. Most evenings I'll have a Quest Protein Bar (I love the chocolate brownie ones!)...to keep my calories up, and to make sure I get at least 85 grams of protein. :)

Breakfast is the hardest meal for me and I tend to still go for a Protein smoothie rather than eat solid food.

lunch is the easiest meal for me and I think it is because I eat at my desk while working so I tend to take a long time between bites as therefore eat more before getting full.

Good point. I also tend to enjoy a Protein shake for Breakfast. It is yummy and gives me the right amount of energy until 3 hours later at my 9 am snack time By 9am, I can eat a 3 oz chicken sausage with no problem. I sometimes feel like the same chicken sausage is too heavy if I eat it when waking up. The chicken sausage works really well for any meal and I can buy a 24 pack from costco that does not cost too much. They look like a big, curved hot dog and are 3 oz of good quality Protein.< /p>

Yep, even after all this time (more than 18 months), I still am more careful of what I eat at breakfast. My tummy is still a little grumpy, so not to much grease or anything heavy. I have a couple of soy lattes, some greek yogurt, and a piece of toast or 1/2 cup of oatmeal. No, not all at once :-) I have coffee first, then breakfast about an hour later, then another coffee around 10 a.m.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
