smithpy 117 Posted October 26, 2012 I can feel the gas moving in my stomach but it won't go away. Tried walking and GasEx. Any other suggestions to help pass the gas?
Holly5.3 423 Posted October 26, 2012 I'm 2 weeks post op and I had horrible gas! I would walk around the house or march in place in front if the TV pumping my arms up and down. Also, I noticed bumpy car rides jostled some of the gas around to allow it to escape. I also ate GasX before eating broth, for some reason chicken broth, even fat free, made me more gassy! It will pass! Promise!
smithpy 117 Posted October 26, 2012 Well I did have broth for lunch. That could explain it. About to jump in the car to go vote so I hope that helps. Thanks for the advice.
smithpy 117 Posted October 27, 2012 Well gas is finally passing but I have diarrhea. Yuck. This is going to be interesting.
Holly5.3 423 Posted October 27, 2012 One thing for sure is by week two after most of the gas and diareah has passed, you can actually hear your digestive system! Stomach growls when empty (someone said sounds like a small animal is living in there-lol!), growls/groans as I am eating (or sipping, I should say!) my meals and I still have some gas (burping) after meals-not half as bad as after surgery, but I must take in too much air when sipping my Protein Shakes or Soups. All in all, the weight pretty much pours off week 1&2. Let's see what this week #3 brings to the table!

My stomach is making so much noise it really had me freaked out until I read your post. Well I'm still freaked out but at least I know it's normal.

Well I'm still freaked out but at least I know it's normal. My belly is making a lot of gurgling sounds too. But I do not have or had any gas pains. Today I was passing gas and loose BM. I heard the saying somewhere here "do not trust a fart" happy I heard that before I tested I out. Lol.
Holly5.3 423 Posted October 28, 2012 LOL! Love that, too! Hysterical! I'm a little over 2 weeks post-op and my stomach, as little as it is, is louder than ever! I wake up to it growling like I'm starving to death, which I'm not! I quickly take my antacid pill and start sucking down a Premier shake-very impatient tummy!! Is this forever or just while on such low calories (still on full liquids until Nov. 1)? I hope once I'm eating real food again instead of shakes, broth/soup and jello/pudding/yogurt, my hungry-hungry (baby!) hippo tummy will simmer down!! I was just wondering what your clear liquid diet was for the first week. Like sf jello/ice pops crystal lite, clear broth. My dr say yes also clear diet but I could still have the Optifast which was my preop diet. Even though he says ok for Optifast, I am just a little scared to try it What do u think?
