Need Help...gaining Weight! Ugh!

Recommended Posts

I really hate to be posting this but I have to be accountable to someone. I am almost 2 years out. Started at 331 got down to 224 (107 loss). Well guess what? I am back up to 264!!! 40 gain!!! What the heck happened? It really hit me today. Cold front blew in so I had to put on my jeans. OMG!!! So tight but I refuse to get a bigger size. I am misarable. I decided to go ahead and wear them to show myself what a failure I am right now. The sad thing is I know exactly what went wrong.....I started eating the bad stuff again and no exercise!!! Where do I start from here? liquids again? Just start eating better?

How did I let this happen!!!!

Why not go back to your nutritionist? You know you need help. You don't know how to start. The good news is there is someone who probably still has records on you and who is an expert. That's a better way to get back in control than trying to do it on your own.

Ok you've gained weight by reverting back to your old eating habits...... check out lilMissDiva's "The Basic Bootcamp Diet" it's pinned on the board here somewhere. This is a great start to help get rid of the carb cravings and start portioning your food out. For example: I have a dessert plate that I use to eat off of. You might measure your portions by ozs too. Try to stay away from carbs as much as possible and start exercising again. I think it's a great idea to see a NUT and perhaps you can see a therapist to assist in getting new coping skills to address your triggers for eating the wrong foods. It's basically just getting back on track and knowing that you can do this...... after all, you've done it before. Start weighing yourself on a regular basis, like 1 x per week. This is a lifetime lifestyle change and your already part way there. :)

I havent been sleeved yet but its easy to slip back to bad habits when you dont have anybody to push you or dont hold yourself accountability the same way you did at the beginning of surgery. However I dont think beating yourself up by putting on jeans that fit tight on your body is a way to make the situation any better. I think you got it under control being that your acknoweldging that you have had a set back. Be positive when all else seems at a lost you have people here that Im sure will be in your corner just get back on the horse and start kick those pounds AZZ again!!! Best of luck lady!!!

start back on the high Protein Shakes, low carbs and no sugar diet would be my suggestion. Good luck and it was very good of you to ask for support in this. At least you didn't run to the food....AWESOME !!! You can do this ! I'm starting my pre-op diet today so I'll be right with ya !

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
