Asked For About 65 - 70% Removal Rather Then Standard 80 To 85 Percent

Recommended Posts

I wish we had a surgeon or doctor to post on here as to whether or not a 70 percent removal versus an 85 percent removal will still be effective? I just don't want it to be so restrictive

I read an article that compared weight loss between those with a 54F bougie and those with a 32F bougie and it claimed the stats were virtually identical.

Did anyone have a bigger bougie or pouch size? I know one person stated that their mother had a 75 % removal and that it was very effective.

Ughhh... I guess I just need to speak with my surgeon about it... Any further feedback is appreciated : )

Bryan, its up to you what you do. I know people on this board are wanting to help you make a decision that would make you successful.

If you do anything I would do a bigger bougie size. Something that is a standing option from surgeons. Medical experts who have done the research and know the options.

Do not try and create your own percentage.

I would say any reputable surgeon would offer you the largest bougie size but if he agrees to let you decide the surgery, that Dr is just in it for the money, not for you and your success.

Also just for the record, I had a 32 bougie and I eat fine :)

Kinda wish it was still like it was during healing.

And no matter the amount you cut away, we all have to heal, that's a given.

Good luck to you and think skinny thoughts :)

I would rethink your request, especially with as much weight as you have to lose.

To be honest, I wish I felt a little more restricted than I am. My surgeon used a 36F bougie, which is in the standard "range," which for most seems to be anywhere from 32-40F.

My hunger is definitely greatly decreased, as is my capacity, but I am able to eat more in one sitting than I would like. So I still have to employ some willpower when I am feeling a little more hungry.

I have a longer torso, so maybe I have a longer stomach. In any case, I wouldn't want to face another surgery down the road.

Good luck.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
