I was sleeved 10/23, home from the hospital tonight. I weigh 22 lbs more than I did the morning of surgery.

I know it's frustrating, but give it a few days. They pump you so full of fluids while you're in the hospital. I had a different surgery and gained 18 pounds from Fluid, my ankles and fingers were huge. 2 days later it was gone. Try not to stress about it!

I also gained weight during surgery, but remember you have an iv filling you up plus all the gas they put in during surgery. Try not to obsess over the scale right now...yeah its hard I know. I only weigh once a week then put my scale away. Hang in there it gets much better! Sleeved Aug 7 and down 66 lbs...next weigh in Monday morning.....

The clinic weighed me right before taking me back for surgery, then about 24 hours later. I'd gained 9 pounds in that time. :D But don't worry, it's all the fluids they pump into you to keep you hydrated and functional. 4 days later, i was down 2 pounds from my pre-op weight.

9 lbs isn't too much. I remember gaining 20 lb from 3 days of Iv. It was definitely a shocker when you went in to lose the weight, not gain it.

LOL I'll tell you what my favorite nurse during my hospital stay told me. Don't weigh yourself for *at least* two weeks. Your body is going what in theeeeee helllllll just happened and is going to do all sorts of strange things.

:)

I was sleeved on Monday... They told me when I left the hospital on Wed, do NOT weigh myself... All the fluids and Water retention keep your weight up... I was on only ice chips for 3 days and the only weight loss I see (sadly) is on my breasts. I have post op on Tuesday... I am trying to not weigh until then.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
