Single Incision Sleeve In Houston

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

I am a WLS mess! I originally booked my surgery and tickets to go to Puerto Vallarta to have the sleeve with Dr. Lopez and Osuna. I chickened out yesterday and have decided to stay local. I found Dr. Sherman Yu that does the SPIDER technique that is a single incision through the belly button with minimal recovery time. Has anyone heard of this or had it done? I really need to connect with some people on here! I am doing my psych evaluation and consultation all in one day (Nov. 2nd) so would love some input. Wanting the surgery on Nov. 22!

I just had surgery from dr yu. on monday. he didn't use the spider because my bmi was too large. He used a similar procedure. only a couple incisions. Im still recovering and taking it easy. feel free to ask me any questions u might have.

i'm having the spider done with dr. hargroder in baton rouge on 11-8, i'm really excited about the spider technique because i have 2 little babies so need as quick of a recovery as possible..he reassured me that if for any reason he needed to abandon the spider tech and go lap that he would without hesitation which reassured me but i'm hoping that the spider is a success. Do you know how many he has done?

Russell, I am starting to have questions now :) I will begin my pre-op on Wednesday. Was that really tough to get through? I am a FT student and single mother of 2 and care for my elderly father. I am a little nervous about how I will keep them fed while I am on liquids!!! Any tips or encouragement would be great!!!

The first 3 days on all liquids were kinda rough. After that it wasn't too bad. It was doable . The first 3 days you might be tired and you should probably take it easy or take a nap. After that you might notice your energy actually increase. I did. It won't be a lot of fun but it won't be total hell. It's important to follow the liquid diet because you want to lose as much weight as possible before the surgery, so you will lose more in total after the surgery. Also the diet will shrink your liver and make your surgery safer. It will be much easier to do the liquid diet after the surgery because you won't be hungry.

Just realize why you are doing this. It sounds like you have family and friends that love and depend on you. They need you to be alive, happy and healthy. Now is the time to keep your eyes on the prize and get pumped up about your exciting new life.

I was sleeved on Oct 22. The first 2 days were really rough and I wish I had taken more pain meds. After that I felt great and now I have lost 34 pounds and I feel so much better already. I feel better than before I had the surgery. I have much more energy and and a much better mood.

Just follow your doctors diet and watch the pounds drop off. This is a war and only the strong survive, so dig deep and do what you need to do right now. It's not going to be a walk in the park always but you don't have much to lose and when you lose it all you will look in the mirror and cry for joy. Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels. Think about how sexy you will feel. Think about all the diabetes , heart disease, strokes and other horrible things you will be avoiding with this surgery and new lifestyle. It's like a miracle!! Think about not getting stared at by mean people at restaurants in public. Think about all the guys that will be asking you on dates. This is your time and the time is now. The new you has begun. Deal with it.

Wow! You have me pumped! lol Yes, I didn't sign up for a cake walk but just nervous I will give in to temptation as usual. Like you said though, deal with it. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all that. Have a great night!

I had the SILS gastrectomy at the end of August with Dr. Yu. I also had a hiatal hernia repair. With the exception of n/v, the recovery period was minimal. I'll be 10 weeks post-op on Tuesday, and I'm down 50 pounds.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
