susan0178 10 Posted October 25, 2012 Hi! I had surgery on 10/15 do I'm 10 days post op...I have been having a burning pain around my main incision that's not getting any better. The incision itself looks fine, although it is sunken in- idk if anyone else has had that happen? I have read that is somewhat normal and should flatten out over time. Anyway, I went for my post op appt today and my dr said I should not be in so much pain...he also said that area looks to be more swollen than the rest of my stomach so he is sending me for a ct scan. He tried massaging the area of the incision and tried "popping" the skin out (the sunken area). It hurt like hell so he stopped and said it will eventually flatten out on its own. So now I'm a nervous wreck just thinking about what could be wrong with me. I go for my ct scan at 11 tomorrow but I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to drink all the contrast liquid that's required. Has anyone had the horrible burning pain that I'm going thru? Getting up and sitting down are torture- everything is torture! I just hope its not serious... 1 Ms skinniness reacted to this
LindaS 316 Posted October 25, 2012 I'm sorry you're going through this. I didn't have that type of pain, so I can't help you. I did have a reaction to the bandages after a few days though. I'm glad you brought it to your doctor's attention, and I hope everything turns out well. Keep us updated!
kparker0501 88 Posted October 25, 2012 HI! Sorry to hear you are having so much pain. I had a lot of incision pain as well and they were sunken in as well. I am close to 5 weeks post op and I that definitely has gone away. You may have a slight infection. I would not worry too much they will probably just give you antibiotics and it should clear up after that if thats what it is. Did they give you a binder? That was a lifesaver for me. Keep us posted let us know how it goes. Saying a prayer for you.
MCD 1 Posted October 26, 2012 I still have pain. Not as much this week, but mine was in the area where lap band port was removed. Getting better but not 100% yet. Good luck
tqmeri30 17 Posted October 26, 2012 I know exactly what pain your talking anout. It feels like someone stabed you in the stomach also there is a real burning sensation. I had mine like 5 days poat op. First days were ok but on the fifth day getting off the bed i felt an awful pain. The weird thing is that it only hurt when i moved certain ways like getting up or leaning forward. I swore i thought this type if pain would last weeks to heal. For the next couple of days i sat in the couch and did not move from there. A week later the pain just stopped. Try this lay on your back and touch your stomach to see if you feel the pain. If you dont than its probably one of the staples being pulled. Its not dangerous but it hurts like hell. I promise it will go away.

KennetteW 2 Posted October 26, 2012 I had the same pain. It lasted about two weeks. I got a gel ice pack and a weight loss belt I put the pack against the area and wrapped the girdle type belt around me. That seemed to help some. I had a friend who's a nurse tell me that there's a lot of nerves in that area and it's possible, that a nerve got caught in the stitching of the muscle. Hope it doesn't last too long for you. Holly5.3 423 Posted October 26, 2012 First, good luck this morning at your scan! Hopefully it is just the healing process and at the very least a little infection that anti-biotics will cure! I know exactly what the burning feeling is-my surgery was on 10/11/12- home a day early and by day 4, was feeling great. Burn only after a hard sneeze or cough...until I returned to work Monday 10/22/12-OMG, by the end if the day, the burning was back (I still have it to a lesser degree!). Went to my surgeon as area felt warm to the touch-very scared I tore something. I was fine, muscles are still healing from laproscopic tools (plus I had a bad hiatal hernia repaired!) I'm taking vicodin for the pain. At work I twisted, stretched and got up and down too much stressing the tissue trying to recover and heal. I'm supposed to go back Monday-I'm scared to give myself yet another setback. Take my advise-don't go back to work too soon-not worth it! Take care!
doxieville 799 Posted October 26, 2012 Remind the techs that you have a tiny tummy! You should only need a small amount of the drink/contrast. Good luck!
