One month post op

Recommended Posts

I am currently one month and 1 day post op. I have been stuck at a weight loss of 19 pounds for almost 2 weeks. I hear this is normal. Can anyone tell me how long this will last? How much am I suppose to eat in a day?

I was banded the day before you guys. I've been eating between 800-1000 calories a day, and still losing pretty steadily, although it's slowed just a bit in the last two weeks. I don't feel like I'm starving myself, or anything, I just eat bandster portions, low-fat foods, and no sugar. If I get hungry before meal time, I drink a bottle of Water. Sometimes I have a snack, but stick to 100 cal. or less.

I was banded just over a month ago -9/7 - and I've only lost about 7 pounds. I don't know what the problem is - but my doctor told me to expect little to no weight loss before my first fill. I have my fill next Monday, so hopefully I can start losing 2 lbs. or more a week.

I have noticed that my plateaus seem to hit about every 4 weeks and last about a week....at least that's been my pattern so far (it's easy to see them when you post your weights on the fitday.com and check the 'report' section). There seems to be no pattern early out....just depends on what condition your body was in and how heavy you were at the beginning. Don't worry so much about doing low fat....it's the carbs that are your enemy, especially the white ones.

Best wishes!!

I am assuming that you have not had a fill yet. The important thing to remember immediately post-op is that this time is for healing, not losing. Many people experience little to no weight loss during this time period, and some (such as myself) gain during that time. Your band really isn't meant to work without a fill. You may have felt some restriction the first couple of weeks following your surgery, however, that was probably due to swelling. When are you scheduled for your first fill? Be patient until then. Once you start feeling restrictions from your fills, I promise the weight will start coming off again.

I have not had my first fill. Next Tuesday.

How do I know if I am eating enough calories?

Mainly trying to ensure I get enough Protein, which

I don't think I do. Don't want to lose what little

hair I have.

Hi there. I am also 4 weeks post band, and have lost 20lbs. I've been stuck at the same weight for the past 2 weeks!!! I should be happy with the weight I've lost, but I'm worried that I'll be stuck here indefinitely. I exercise 3-4 days a week, and I consume 800-1000 calories a day. Maybe if I begin taking my Protein Shake again, I'll start to see some loss?? I'm not due for my fill until the end of november. Does anyone have some advice??? Thanks!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
