Feeling good seems so long ago... I know this will pass, but right now I am feeling pretty miserable.. Lots of pain, difficulty getting my Protein down - wondering what the heck did I do to myself... Also, have to give myself blood thinner shots twice daily and empty a drain ... I don't even feel human anymore... :-;

How long

I'm so sorry you're having a tough time. I am still pre-op so cannot offer any practical information.

Feel better soon. I am very sure you will get a bunch of feed back from sleevers that will offer some insight.

Good luck .

It will get better! Just be patient and look at each day as another step towards feeling better. What you are going thru now is perfectly normal.

The first week was the worst for me. I was feeling much better by the weekend. I even went out on a boat, but I still remember feeling not normal. While on the boat, I watched my husband and kids waterski. Someone wiped out and took in a great deal of Water, and I remember panicking thinking I could never do that again. I just couldn't imaging ingesting that much Water at once.

At the end of the second week, I was back to work and feeling mostly normal. I would get tired fast -- falling asleep around 8 p.m., which is unheard of for me. I was tired for several weeks, but it was mostly in the evening. Eventually that passed too.

It gets better every single day until finally, you feel normal again.

You are going to be feeling better before you know it. Each day it will get better. Don't rush yourself. I was sleeved on 9/24 (Monday) and went back to work the following Tuesday. Plus once the shots are over, that was a BIG plus!

I was also sleeved Monday.I am feeling a little better today, still very sore in some spots.I did manage to do some light house work and took about a 1/2 mile walk. I also had a hiatal hernia repair done at the same time so my issue is trying to get my fluids in.It seems fluids want to stick in my chest first and then work their way down. So far today I only took one dose of liquid Tylenol for pain and a Maylox for the gas.

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
