How's everyone doing? I was sleeved Oct 23 and going home tonight. Any advice?

Hey! I was sleeved the 22nd. My advice is to set an alarm every 15 min to stay on top of your fluids and make sure to get out and walk! The Prilosec and gas x has helped a ton. I slept a ton the first 2 days and now on day 3 things are getting much better. Today I drove around and ran some errands. I have not taken pain meds since I got home

You both sound great, which is very encouraging when you're still looking ahead. Donny - are you able to swallow a prilosec capsule? I'm a little fuzzy on whether or not you're allowed to take pills, etc., in the first few days/weeks following surgery.

I was sleeved on the 23rd. Had a horrible time getting in fluids first day but 2nd day was much easier. Went home this afternoon. Feeling good overall. Definitely just focus on the fluids! I was given prescription form of Prilosec which I take every morning. Also gave me a nausea compound. Haven't been nauseated since I got home though. My doc said no Vitamins or minerals, probiotic for first 2 wks. I'm on a liquid diet for 2 wks as well. Not nearly as challenging as I initially thought. Good luck! Keep us updated with your progress.

This is my first night home and I can't sleep. My stomach feels terrible. Not sure if it's gas or pain. Been taking cat naps so I'll try to be better with fluids. How long are you walking at home?

It's my first night home too. My tummy is sore but not sure if its gas or incision pain. Took my meds (liquid loratab & gas x strips) so hopefully that will help. Definitely stay up on fluids. My doc said that's the single most important thing for us now. Good luck. I hope you get some rest.

I was sleeved on 23rd too and went home yesterday. Drain incision seems to be the worst pain for me now. And some reflux. Felt really good in the morning but the drive home was rough.

I'm still having painful gas in shoulders and back. Incision area sore but not bad. I'm ready for that to be over with. Eating very small amounts, very slowly.

No, I break it open and smash it up. I mix it with some Water and take it that way. I too was given the prescription version but had already purchased OTC.

Annie, I was sleeved Oct. 3rd and was given pills in the hospital. While I was sent home with liquid main meds they had me take my estrogen and Prilosec on the second day post op. They said no pill bigger than an m & m. Remember only one at a time though. They forgot to tell me that and I had to figure that one out the hard way.

Good luck on your journey!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
