BekahBoo.. My daughter and I are scheduled in Acuna on Nov 17, with Dr Jose Rodriguez at the price of $7,300. I'm afraid I can't make a recommendation as I haven't had any experience with Dr. Rodriquez personally but many other people have. His staff has been great to work with and are always please to answer my million of questions.

As for support, my son is extremely worried about the "leaving the country" issue and as for my husband, pfft.. hes only worried about the money :blah:

When I first started talking about getting the band, my husband was skeptical and worried. He initially said, "No!" I talked him into letting me go to the seminar for it to find out more info. My Mom was visiting at the time, so he insisted she come with. Mom's a very well respected nurse and he trusts her opinion. She too was skeptical when she first heard about it.

After the seminar though, she was impressed with the surgeon and the facts. The whole percentage of diets that don't work thing was a shock to her. Mom of course, knows I've struggled with my weight my whole life. She remembers taking me to stuff like weight watchers when I was 10 and being on diet pills almost all of my teenage years. She also knows that for quite a few years I was bulimic, so she knows what desperation over weight issues can lead to.

She came home from the seminar and told him that she thought it was a good idea. That's all he needed to hear. Since then, the whole family has been mega supportive.

Kind of mixed. DH was banded 2 years ago, so the family is more familar then some with the process. Overall, I get a lot of support and encouragement, but there is also a sense of "well, is this going to work for her?" out there. Since I've tried so many other things and failed.

Well Lisah it looks like you are proving it to them. This is why I haven't told anyone outside of my very closest of family and friends. But my kids and hubby are all for me being banded, I've taken my 16/yr old with to a support meeting and my 20 y/o to a dr visit. I'm now worried hubby will be thinking I should be losing faster ... time will tell.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
