Silk Fruit And Protein Drink

Recommended Posts

I bought some Silk's fruit and Protein drink, strawberry/banana, Yum! I mixed it with one of those nasty, taste like cough Syrup, "Super Protein Shots, " added four ounces of 1% milk and it tastes like a fruit smoothie. Best of all it's 35 grams of protein..Yaah!

Super Protein shot 26 grams protein..120 cals..0 carbs

1% low fat milk 4 grams protein .. 50 cals..12 carbs

Silk Fruit & Protein 5 grams protein....130 cals..19 carbs

I've got some really bad news for you.

Those Protein shots are completely useless. The Protein they use is collagen/ Gelatin. It is not usable by the human body.

I've been curious about those new Silk drinks. I'll have to pick some up and try them. I think I'll try mixing in some unflavored or vanilla Unjury into them. Mmm... now I'm thinking I need to hit the grocery store after work.

Get Out!

I bought them months ago, and they've been sitting in my fridge. I tried one, and it tasted like liquid Jello, uggh! So why do they sell them?

Protein shots are considered a supplement. Therefore they are not regulated by the FDA. The FDA requires all foods & drugs that use this type of Protein to print on the label "not a significant source of protein".

Trust me, you are not the first person to to fall victim to their misleading packaging. I kinda feel like a broken record because this comes up prettymuch weekly on this forum.
