cdbloo01 20 Posted November 14, 2012 I never got the barium swallow. Is that normal? My surgeon said that right after the surgery they puff up the new pouch with air and spray Water over it to look for bubbles... I always hear about the barium swallow and wonder if I am the only one who never got it... I didn't get one either. Another doctor preference I guess. cdbloo01 20 Posted November 14, 2012 Sleeve complete. Waiting to go home. It's tough but doable. I feel much, much better today than I did the first two days. Everyone says day 3 is the turn around and it was for me. 3 jjones10669, lizv123 and mike010906 reacted to this
Miss Michi 33 Posted November 14, 2012 I am originally from Baltimore' date=' MD. I have lived in New Zealand for 6+ years now. I am a retired federal employee. I was a clinical social worker in my former life in America. I had a gallbladder surgery in August of 2010. I developed a larger central line hernia that needed repair badly. My research taught me that the hernia could be repaired, but without a massive amount of weight loss, it more than likely would not stay repaired. I am almost 57 yrs. old and I am geneticly loaded for diabetes on both sides of my family. Presently I have a good BP and no diabetes. My cholesterol is borderline. All things considered, I decided now is the hour for the decision to have WLS. I believe the sleeve is right for me. So does my surgeon. I have just returned from hernia repair surgery about 5 weeks ago. I met with the surgeon today post surgery and discussed my next surgery, the gastric sleeve surgery. Being blessed with private health insurance, after working for the U.S. government for 25 yrs., I can have my surgery in the private system of health care here in New Zealand (I am too old for the public medical scheme to cover me here). He has given me the date of November 29th, 2012 for my sleeve surgery. I am axious to get on with it all. It will be my late Thanksgiving day celebration. I may even come to Celebrate a 2nd birthday after having my surgery. I want to be well underway to recovery by Christmas time.[/quote'] I am November 29 too!! I start my 2week liquid diet Tomorrow, hope all goes well and no thanksgiving dinner for me either but I am looking forward to something at Christmas or New Years 1 mike010906 reacted to this

I was miserable Monday and Tuesday as well. But, each day gets better . I promise. Don't worry about the protein yet. Just stay hydrated, that is the most important thing. Just take small sips all day. The heartburn I believe is normal. My dr sent me home with 2 meds for that. Maybe call your dr and tell them how bad it is? I know it's no fun right now, but I promise, it gets easier :-) Get those fluids in

dexter 205 Posted November 15, 2012 I was sleeved on the 13th and all went great. I just want to pass along a tip from the OR nurse. The day before, when it's the strict liquid diet, drink until you float so that you will still be hydrated the next day for surgery. It helps when they take blood and put in your IV. Drink all the way up to midnight. It works. I have terrible rolling veins but i was hydrated enough 12 hours after my cut off that it only took the nurse one shot at the IV. So, late November sleevers, drink up me hearties yo ho! 2 lizv123 and charissa70737 reacted to this
