PostalMora 9 Posted October 24, 2012 Had my surgery on 10/17/12.... up until now was really wondering what the hell I was thinking. Well, really, I'm still thinking that. I'm just out of sorts. My Dr wants me to stay on Protein shakes, Water and yogurt for the first 21 days. That was making me feel so lethargic and yucky. Yesterday I ate three or four bites of egg and instantly felt better. Is it the different type of Protein or is it just in my head? I'm still getting weak quicker than I expect. Still trying to find comfort zone. I started this process to be healthier for my granddaughter. To be able to be active and live longer with her. That is my prize, so each pound lost is more time with her, thus worth every minute of any discomfort I may have.
chitowngirl 886 Posted October 24, 2012 I really did feel the same way about Protein shakes, and kind of still do, and im 7 months post op. I ordered Protein chicken broth, it did the trick for me. I hear from this forum that powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury as a pretty good one. As far as following your diet, I would really try to stick to your surgeons diet. I know it's rough and not pleasant, but it shouldn't be for very much longer. I personally only got protein from the protein chicken broth. I did have a hard time meeting my protein requirements in the early stages. I had to focus on my fluids aka Water so I didn't start meeting my protein until about a month out. Hope this helps
greenfamily004 172 Posted October 24, 2012 I'm six weeks out and my weights not moving and I think it's the Protein shakes. I'm going to start trying to consume more Protein through real food and just use the shakes as supplement. I've been drinking three a day and they get old. They all taste too sweet to me. Yuck!! The one in the morning was easy because I mixed it with my coffee which cut the sweet flavor down. The other problem I'm having is I'm not going..... I think the shakes bind you up somehow.
