Betsyjane 2 Posted February 22, 2007 I'm trying to decide what to do next. The weight isn't falling off without effort, so I'm getting more serious about exercise and thinking about some diet revisions. I've caught myself grazing lately, and I think iot's because I'm not getting enough calories in at each meal. It's hard right now. i broke a tooth and it hurts to chew chew chew, so I'm on mushier food that doesn' lead me to feeling as full. I'm also looking for appropriate Snacks. Any dieas? niecyrenee 2 Posted February 22, 2007 When my weight kinda stalls, I change my calorie intake around. I will eat less for a few days and then raise my intake. It keeps my body guessing and always seems to get the scale moving again. Exercise is always wonderful too because even if the scale isn't showing it, you lose inches. I don't know if you are still doing Protein Shakes every now and then but it wouldn't be a bad idea. If I see that I'm wanting to graze and eat more than I should, I pack a Protein Shake or two and have them in between meals. It's enough to take the edge off and get me going again. Also, watch your Water intake. My nutritionist said that a lot of times when we have troubles staying away from food and think we are hungry, it's because we are actually lacking in our water intake. I hope this helps....?
Betsyjane 2 Posted February 22, 2007 Thanks. That's interesting. I thought maybe the days that I had a Protein Shake I had more cravings...so I was thinking liquid calories aren't for me...or that the sweetness was setting off sugar cravings. I am doing a food journal, so I'll take a look at that.

What a great feeling.:clap2: My other recent non scale victories: 1) My wedding ring is WAY too loose 2) I can tie my shoes without having to do it from the side 3) I had to go bra shopping- which I despise - but the size was two sizes smaller this go around! MistyArmenti 0 Posted February 22, 2007 I went to see the nutritionist yesterday. She said that 40lbs was great, and as far as my food, my planning is good. Just try to stick to it. I still have a tendicy to binge. Enventhough it is 20 dortoes. 2 pieces of fudge and 1/4 c sunflour seeds... it is a sign of bad things to some. So I need to watch it. I hope you all are well. While it would be better to be 100% "good", we are human. 20 Doritos is SOOO much better than the whole bag! Moderation is the key. I've never been one to crave sweets (like candy bars) but recently I've been really wanting chocolate. I did buy some diet hot chocolate mix that has 25 calories per packet. I usually mix it with fat-free milk instead of Water so it ups the calories some but figure that's better than a candy bar. One of the girls at work has candy on her desk all the time. Every now and then, I'll have one of the fun-size candy bars. Gives me the pleasure without all the sin. Tom
Oberhasli 1 Posted February 23, 2007 Thanks. That's interesting. I thought maybe the days that I had a Protein Shake I had more cravings...so I was thinking liquid calories aren't for me...or that the sweetness was setting off sugar cravings. I am doing a food journal, so I'll take a look at that. The food journal, especially if you include how you're feeling when you eat, can be a great way to identify eating habits. Once you know what triggers eating, you can better control it. Be cautious of the Protein Shakes. They can easily get up to 200+ calories and tend to go through the band much quicker leaving you feeling hungry quicker. Like just about everything else, they aren't "bad" but too much of a good thing isn't always the best either. A nice Protein fruit smoothie is far better than a milkshake but just use moderation. kjojojr 0 Posted February 23, 2007 Hi Nov. Bandsters, Seems like everyone is doing pretty good. Betsyjane, I do the Protein Drinks, they work for me. They take the hungry edge off and I can go for a few more hours until eating time again. Congats to all the new leg crossers out there. It's an awesome feeling to lose and even tho it's a pain (literally) to eat it's well worth it....sliming and all.
MistyArmenti 0 Posted February 23, 2007 The nutritionist did give me another bit of advice.. it was how much protien I need. It is around 110 grams a day. She said to figure it out, mulitply .8 times your weight in kilograms. so 280lbs/2.2=127kg 127kgx.8= 101 This basically means that, at this point, I still need to have my protien shakes at 10 and 3. So here is my plan.. which she said was awesome... This is what I try to eat, but it doesn't all so down, sometimes...thought I would share: b- 1/4 c cottage cheese with cinnamon and 2 walnut halves crushed up and 1/2 peach 10 acheive one (protin shake) 12- salad... 1 c spinach and salad mix 1/4 c cannelli Beans 1/2 T sunflower seeds 1 oz chicken 1/2 oz reduced fat cheese 1 T vinagrette 2 melba toast 3- protien shake New Whey 6 Pasta Primavera 1/2 c Pasta 1/4 c broccoli 1/4 c cauliflower 1 oz mozzarella 1/4 c spaghelli sauce 1 t parmesan 1/2 c salad 1 T vinagrette As I said, this is the plan.. what happens is sometimes diffrent. it doesn't all go down, but I always go for the protien first, and hope for the best. Have a great day... and I am glad your bras are fitt'n better.... Misty
Betsyjane 2 Posted February 23, 2007 That's interesting. I'd like to eat more salad and fruit. I know that Pasta would kill me though! I'm not destined to be a white carb eater....gets me binging and PBing. My ideal plan would be 2 eggbeaters in the morning with a few chooped veges in them, salad with meat for lunch and salad with meat for dinner....with tiny fruit smoothies with Protein Powder for snacks! I use the whole wheat/protein enchanced pastas. I think they taste better and are healthier. If I have the pasta in a Soup or with sufficient low-fat sauce, I rarely have trouble with it and find it very filling. One cup of uncooked pasta will make about 4 meals when used with other ingredients (meat, veggies, etc.). I usually only will fix pasta once a week but it does several meals. Brown rice is another healthy "filler" that in Soups our with sauces makes a nice change. Tom
