APinkSaprano--Tomorrow is my big day too! My surgery is at 7:30am and luckily I only have to travel about 5 minutes. I hope that everything goes well for you, keep us updated!

Karen and Angela--Thank you for the compliments, we should all start posting pix of ourselves so we can get to put a face to all of the wonderful words everyone types!

Angela--That is so awesome how you kept your MS at bay with holistic remedies, maybe I need to get your advice on how to help out my daily headaches with holistic remedies!

Good luck on yor surgery! And of course i will help you with any problems as I am able to... I think a new way of eating will probably solve the headache factor...let's talk after your surgery. You will do GREAT!!!!!:clap2:

We do need to post some pics soon...even if they are not that flattering...:nervous

Let us know how things are after surgery!:)

Good luck to those getting banded this week! You'll do great!

Sorry I haven't updated since my surgery on 11/2. I've been staying with my mom. The surgery went well, but I had to stay an extra night because they couldn't do the swallow study because I was allergic to the iodine. Since I tolerated liquids well, they let me go home the second day.

My incisions look good except one is red, but I don't think it's infected. I lost 15 pounds at my 2-week checkup. :clap2: I was really excited about that. I'm thrilled to be on soft foods now. I was starving on liquids and now it fills good to have something solid in my stomach. :hungry: Now if I can just get past the head hunger I'll be doing okay.

Thanks for thinking of us! I'm on day 3 of my pre-op diet. I've lost 1 1/2 lbs, tomorrow I go to the hospital a 7am. I'm nervous about what my life will be like after tomorrow and hope I'm one of those people who has success with the band. Best of luck to all.

Thank you...just a little bit to let everyone know they're in my thoughts.

Mentioning that...has anyone heard from our three missing banders from the first two weeks of this month? I was hoping they would have checked in by now. Ladies, I hope you are doing well...check-in if you get a chance!

Ok, I was banded Nov. 3, and I'm only down about 10 pounds. Granted, I've cheated a bit, but I really have been good overall. I feel so bad.

I am going to hit the gym some more, but I just feel like my doc is going to be disappointed when I go in for my first fill. Plus, everybody around me knows I got this surgery, so lots of people are asking me for a weight loss count every other day. I wish I had kept my mouth shut.

Arrggggghhhh..

Hi November Bandsters!

I did my first walk on treadmill today -- felt good! I just hate to do it I don't know why, but I know it is a change I need to make.

I am still on the pureed liquid diet. Only hunger is head hunger and that for some reason hits between 7 and 9 P.M.

I did have chicken enchilada Soup from Chilis -- brought home and aded the cheese and put it into the blender. It was great!

It is great to hear from everyone as they check in. Best Wishes to all!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
