November Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

 Hello everyone! Things have been so crazy going back to work. My desk was piled high; I thought I would never find the bottom!! Thank goodness this morning I have time to get online and see how everyone is doing. I have missed this!!

My gas pains have finally all left. Thank goodness! They were the worst part. Overall, feeling great! On the downside, I have been at the same weight all week. I can't get the scale to move no matter what I do.:faint: I am on 3 - 4 oz. meals a day and two small Protein Shakes a day. Full liquids but I have added in a few mushie things just for some substance. Not doing bad with stomach hunger but head hunger is another thing. I am ignoring it. I don't know what to do to get the scale to move. All I am allowed to do at this point is walk and I have been doing that. Any suggestions? Is anyone else experiencing this?

Denise:Cry:

Have you been able to have a BM? If not, Milk of Magnesia works gently. Also, inflammation from surgery can make you retain fluid...I was slow also... I had to remember this time is for healing and not losing weight.

I was banded 11/14 and everything went well. The only problems that I am having is terrible gas and absolutely no appetite. In the past 3 days, I have only managed to force down 1/2 cup (total) of sugar-free vanilla pudding. Does anyone know if that is normal or a problem?

Pudding is too thick just out of surgery. You need to DRINK you food. Protein is really important so make smoothies with a good Protein Powder and make sure you can drink them with a straw. I was banded Nov. 7 and I can now finally get down a moderately thick smoothie/protein drink. Make sure also it has lots of viatmins and minerals. Water in between. Good luck! For the gas get chewable GAs X at the drugstore it really helps and also walk. Take care!!!

Yep, BM's are normal. I didn't realize until after I posted that message this morning that the first 6 weeks are for healing and not for losing. My surgeon never mentioned that. I looked all over this morning and found this information. I was very glad to have found this out because I was starting to become depressed because I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. :phanvan

Hmmm. My surgeon said I can eat anything mushy...eggs, fish, veges. You name it. Just chew alot and 4-6 oz per meal. Am I going to regret this for some reason? Seems like everything is fine......

Hi everyone,

I was banded on Wed am and am now back at home. I had to go 4 hours away for the surgery, so they made me stay in a hotel for a night before I left town. All is well. went in for surgery at 7:30 am, "came to" at 9:30. Was released form the hospital at 1 ish. Things first day seemded easier, now I am starting to get a little sore and swollen- but nothing toworry about.

My throat hurts, but I think that is from the tube they put in there during surgery. And my shoulders/upper torso is in a little pain, but from the posts i have been reading--I think it may be gas??? Other than that- I feel GREAT!

To everyone who has had it this month, thanks for your support. To those of you getting ready for it, you'll do fine. Stay stong and think positive:p

Cheers,

Jill

Most docs prefer the first two weeks to be liquid so it can heal better and prevent a future slippage of the band. preferably 4, but very soft mushies on 3rd week are OK. Try to make things as mushy as possible for now... Docs are all so diferent!

Hello Everyone--thank you for your suggestions! I called the surgeon's office and my surgery actually prescribed me an antibiotic, augmentin, he didnt even ask to see me. So I have been taking that and Clartin D-Walgreen's version, and I am feeling a lot better. I still feel the sinus pressure, but not as bad two days ago and nothing has gotten worse so that is great! Thank you Again!

Angela--Why do you think you have been so weak? Not able to get anything down? Something I should prepare myself for as well? I hope that you are getting better! Take care!

Here is a fairly recent picture of myself that was taken around late September! So I guess this could be a good "before" picture. I have taken even more recent pix, that are a whole lot less flattering...I just thought I would share!:)

You are so beautiful!! It got a bit worst with me...actually I have a what I thought was totally remitted MS which I did on my own using ALL holistic means...well I was a bit nervous about the surgery bringing out symptoms...and it finally did!:faint: Right leg weakness and cramping, inability to move leg well, etc. I panicked!!!! I called my cousin who is an MD he prescribed something to help...I had not taken any pharmaceutical anything in five years!!! Now I just need to get going as soon as possible on my all natural everything again...NO sugar free anything...unless I use a natural sweetner like stevia. I also need to find good qUAlity liquid Vitamins. It shoudkl be better soon!

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
