November Bandsters!

Angela--that is a good idea to start reducing the amount of carb intake so that the liquid diet is not so harsh on the body!

Yes...my doc does this instead of liquid...it also reduces the size of the liver... although i think I will still do liquids the last two days....just in case! :guess

Good luck, Angela, and to all others just starting their pre-op diets!! It won't be long before we begin our new journey to health...might as well get started NOW!! But Angela, did you HAVE to say "chocolate"?? I forgot about chocolate..... waaaaaaaahhhhhhhh.... :cry

I don't have any unique ideas for the liquid diet, but I do know that since I found the Profect Protein "tubes", I have been alot happier on the diet I put myself on before surgery. They are 25 grams of protein in just a couple of gulps, and since I have blood sugar problems, and also can not drink whey-based Protein Drinks, they have been a lifesaver! I plan to use them on the clear liquid fast I have to go on the day before surgery, but for now I use them as a supplement to the small meals I am having to give myself a protein boost. Sorry I don't have any other helpful ideas...:embarassed: but good luck, everyone, with your pre-op diets!

Karen

Yes...chocolate....but Karen, we can have chocolate smoothies!:hungry:

yum, here is a ggod one...not for Clear Liquids, but.....

-one banana

-chocolate almond milk, or soy milk unsweetened

-1 tablespoon almond butter

-a few drops or sprinkles of Stevia a natural sweetner...no calories and good for you

- blend it all together...yum!

You can add vanilla or chocolate Protein Powder if you want.

Drink half and save the rest for later....you can also freeze the left overs in ice cube trays with a toothpick in it and have popsicles!

oooo, Angela, that sounds delicious! I am definitely interested in smoothie recipes to help make it through the ten day liquid diet that i start on Nov. 10th. I have begun to prepare myself for the diet by replacing one meal (usually lunch) with a Target version of Slimfast, which is good and cheap!

Vegge....congratulations on everything you are doing!!! Awesome! Your band date will be here soon, and then you can enjoy the new you!!! I ahve been overweight up and down for 25 years....eat healthy, but Large portions and a constant nibbler when I am nervous or depresessed. So the calories do add up even if it is just carrots and lettuce:eek: I am soooo happy the band will make me feel full :clap2:

Have a great day!!!! On the smoking...did you get the patch?

No, I do not plan on getting the patch...luckily I have only been smoking for about six months, and not regularily...I am planning on sheer will power...we'll see how that goes, and chewing sugar free gum...My boyfriend and I are quitting together...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
