Gig 27 Posted October 25, 2012 My sleeve was on a Thursday, I took the following week off but I really could have gone back the Monday after surgery. I did stay in hospital over night.
Holly5.3 423 Posted October 25, 2012 Like I posted earlier, I tried going back 9 days after surgery and wasvery tired and sore by end of day so now my surgeon had me stay all home this week also ( surgery was 2 weeks ago this morning!) I'm feeling better now but that one day back set me back at least 5 days recovery-wise-not worth it! I also have been guilty if lifting too much-went grocery shopping day before I returned to work snd no one was home when I got back to help being bags in so I did it myself and really shouldn't have-doh!!!!!) rybecca20 160 Posted October 25, 2012 Stay in hospital. You might feel ok in a week but getting your nutrition in is so important and work. I would take two for sure.
ProudGrammy 8,322 Posted October 25, 2012 Wow - I can't imagine this as an outpatient surgery! This is MAJOR surgery. Chicago1962, aliasmith I believe a couple of other sleevers mentioned they were I & 0 and all was well, no problems, but for me.......... theres no way i could/would have gone home a few hours after surgery. I was out of it, tired - my DH would have stayed/helped me at home, but i felt having nurses, staff around - dealing with IV's - was the better choice for me good luck with WLS speedy recovery
juanfa 1 Posted October 25, 2012 Went back to work 6 days after the surgery. I thought that was best for me because it forced me to be up and about and moving. It also took my mind off of the extreme hunger I have been feeling!
ArcusX 216 Posted October 25, 2012 I don't get too much answers on a lot of my questions..I'm not special or anything..but need help!!..I need a vote..here's the question .. 1) I only have a week off of work..will I be OK?..I have an office job. How did you feel after 1 week? 2). Stay the night at the hospital or go home? What are your votes ..please help!! I don't want to sound mean or snooty, but as having been a member of multiple forums on multiple topics, such as woodworking, some games, etc., you need to make sure you are using the search functions on any forum you participate in before posting a question. I've only been a member here a month or two, but I have already seen several threads on both of your questions, so I'm guessing if you had posted these questions previously, many members may have passed over your post for that reason. Some forums, you get ignored, some you get ridiculed with a reply like, "Use Search," or "Asked and answered!" Ideally, a moderator could add the answers to your questions - which are common - to the sticky'd FAQ thread. Having said that, this forum doesn't seem to be especially well moderated, in terms of someone making sure threads are in the most appropriate sub-forums. I've seen the same question in as many as 3 or 4 different sub forums. The topics of your questions are no exception. I see you have plenty of answers this time though! Good luck!! Best, - John
Pillowpants 1 Posted October 25, 2012 You most definitely should stay overnight in the hospital.Just coming out of the anesthesia is a kicker, not to mention the pain meds that make you feel weird. I have a physical job, I am a nurse in ambulatory surgery/recovery room.I took 3 weeks, but surgeon said no pushing or lifting anything over 25 LBS, so It may be longer.I have the sick time, so if I need longer I will take it. Best, - John[/quote'] Dude..that was a lot of time you took just to tell me that people have asked these questions already ...so your saying don't ask them again!?..wow..umm I'm pretty sure this is a supportive website..and maybe I read other peoples questions and wanted more input more personal to MY situation. Maybe I'm a spazz and I'm nervous about surgery and feel better when I get my own personal input from people who have been there!..bottom line is you wrote THREE PARAGRAPHS telling me how people should moderate and blah blah blah...you could have spent that time giving me some meaningful input on your advice..and your experience..or do you just go around just asking questions that haven't been answered yet..because newsflash!! These are ALL the same 25 questions worded a little differently and personalized for each individual. If there was something that bothered you about the way I worded my post you should just say so..I was having a moment..and wanted answers..those answers help me make a life changing decision ..so please don't be deputy Dippy and start handing out blog tickets because someone posted twice .. I'm sorry you misunderstood my intent. I'm not saying not to ask questions, and i'm not trying to downplay your concerns, only suggesting a possible reason for not getting a reply. The moderator part was more hoping a moderator would see it As for experience... I'm not far enough along to give you any meaningful information specific to your questions of time off or how much time at the hospital. I was, however, trying to gently give you a little more of my experience from having participated in multiple, multiple forums. Again, best of luck to you. KennetteW 2 Posted October 26, 2012 I see multiple questions asked over and over again on forums it's not a big deal. Who wants to search back 10-12 months for 100+ pages to find an answer to a question that may have a bit of uniqueness to it. Personally, I'm pretty much done with this forum as I don't get a lot of comments on any of my posts. I guess I must have repeated someone from an earlier page as well. CowgirlJane 14,260 Posted October 26, 2012 I agree it is no big deal that the same questions are asked and answered over and over... but, also realize that might be a reason not every question is answered by more experienced people, that's all. Don't take it personally, there are alot of people (myself included) who want to be supportive but it would be a full time job to keep up with all the new posts so it is a little random as to which ones get answered. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
