Continuous Lady Time, Anyone Else?

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 8/6. Since two weeks after surgery, I have had my period almost continuously. I get a random "day off" here and there, but it's pretty steady. Oh, and I am on the Nuva Ring, and I haven't stopped using it.... So regardless of the birth control, I am getting it. Has this happened to anyone else? I am having complications since surgery that's making it difficult to get in enough calories/water daily, but I thought that would stop me from having a period, if anything....

Yes, I started my TOM the day of surgery and it lasted almost three weeks. Then I had about a week and half off and immediately went into a second cycle which also lasted about three weeks. The third cycle was a little shorter and my fourth cycle was pretty normal. The surgery wreaks havoc on our hormones. Hopefully you'll even out again pretty soon!!

This is fairly common. While in the hospital they usually administer blood thinners, I also had to inject myself for 10 days with a blood thinner, this is to prevent blood clots and usually causes bleeding. It took about 2-3 months before my period became regular.

The day after I wrote this I started gushing! Bright red, TONS of clots (sorry tmi). This cannot be normal. I'm almost 3 months out and it's not like there has been a large build up bc I haven't had my period! I've had it continuously! I'm on provera now to try to stop the bleeding. I don't know if this has anything to do with the surgery... I've stopped losing weight and inches. Almost no change in 20 days. I can only guess it is because I'm not getting enough calories an Water in each day. This was the single worst decision I ever made.

Yikes. Sorry for the tough time you're having. :( I am a pre-sleeve:

Something very similar happened to me last October (2011). I had a non-stop flow. I went to my Gyn and he said not to worry about it. I was like "huh?" Told him I wanted to be checked out and he says I just had my yearly. I TOLD him I wasn't asking for a yearly exam, I was asking him to do some tests, do whatever it is he's supposed to do to figure it out. In the grand scheme of things, you can set time zones by uterus. I have never been 1 day late, early, off, nothing. I've missed a period, but I was pregnant.

So, he runs tests, and it was just a little bitty small fibroid. Just the 1. Creating all kinds of havoc in my holy of holies.

They need to do some simple thing to clear it up. Ok! Downside...I needed to wait until after the new year so my deductible would start over. (Didn't want to waste the insurance for the year, right?)

So, yes, I bled for 4 months until I could have the surgery. (But he did have me taking an Iron supplement - it got expensive with all of the feminine hygiene products) ;)

I'm not saying this to tell you this is what is wrong with you. Only to say I empathize. And to maybe put your mind at ease because it could be something non-related, and it may be something as simple as mine.

Wishing you speedy resolution!

I would definitely go to your Gyn... I had this issue in 2009. They blamed it on the Mirena. I had it removed asap. The bleeding went away within a day or so. I had a similar issue when I tried out Nuvaring earlier this year. Bled like crazy & had cramps everywhere...uterus, urethra, belly. Took it out & within 24 hours was nearly back to normal. I think I'm just sensitive to foreign objects, perhaps.

Thank you for this info! I have PCOS and so I'm no stranger to female issues- I guess with everything I would not be surprised if I had uterus issues too. I have a sonogram scheduled within a week! Thankfully the flow has slowed. Those pads do get super expensive after awhile! Haha

I have an appointment and sonogram scheduled. Thankfully, the flow has slowed. I have been on Nuva ring for years- so I wouldn't think it would all of a sudden cause crazy things to happen, but who knows. I wish my surgeon's office would call me back with some info- I left a message on Wednesday or Thursday asking if this is something that happens after surgery or if it could be related (hormones going crazy with weight loss??) so I could have something to tell my gyno. Hopefully it's just a one-time deal! How uncomfortable! Haha.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
