Most ppl go through the EXACT same thing. When I hit the famous "3 week" stall, it last for 2 weeks. It gets better! I'm down 55lbs in 3 months.....hang in there!

Same thing happened to me in week 5. I am hoping this week will be better but I am told stalls do happen and not to get discouraged. Hang in there, it is sure to catch up.

I am on week 2 of the 3rd week stall...I understand how crazy it can make you!! I have been frustrated and feel like a failure. But it is encouraging to read that others go through the same thing and it will eventually break. Hang in there a up and keep your head up! We will be "losers" in no time :)

I am at week 2 of the 3rd week stall and it sucks.. but I'm still losing inches. Actually I'm crossing my fingers that the stall *might* be over because the scale went down almost 2 lbs this morning EEK. Please let it be over LOL

Read the link in my sig. It gives a good explanation of why we stall. The 3 week stall is very common and not much you can or should do about it. Just be calm and patient and it will break on its own very soon.

How much is norm lost when it does break? I droped 2 lb's and I hope that it's more then 2lb's. How do you really know when the stall is over? The stall and plateau article is not very clear on that. Any info on that from you :)

You'll know because over the course of the next week you should see regular weight loss. For many, this is the time when the weight just falls off, excluding the 3 week stall. As far as "how much", that's gonna depend on alot of factors. There is no set or normal amount. But you will see loss.

i am currently 5 months post op. i have experienced 3 stalls. the first lasted 1 week, the second lasted 2 weeks, and the one that finally broke, lasted 3 stupid weeks. i have learned a few things about stalls.

1) we all experience them at some point

2) they suck

3) typically, when i stall, my body is doing other things. like. losing inches. (totally don't understand that one but, hey, i'll take it)

4) when it finally breaks, i start losing again, so, i've learned to trust the program to do what it should

5) they suck

6) they don't last forever

and finally 7) they suck

so, be of good cheer! this too shall pass!

good luck

I am 4.5 months out of surgery, and I have had two stalls. The first stall was at about 2 weeks out and lasted a week, and my second stall began September 5th and lasted until...drumroll please...YESTERDAY! Yes, I bounced between 6 pounds for about 6.5 weeks. It has really sucked. I had tried changing my eating and exercising habits and amounts, but nothing worked. I was bouncing between 311 and 317 this whole time. Yesterday, I was 308 when I woke up, but I didn't get excited because I'd been trucked before. Today I was 305!

Long story short, stalls can happen often and randomly, and like everyone said, just ride it out!

I am so glad I have your experiences to help me through this process. I'm close to five weeks post op and it really encourages me to know about the three week stall, etc. Im going on my third week of the three week stall but gradually lost six lbs. Hovering so close to reaching to onederland and you guys give me a lot of patience! Thanks!

I'm with you. This is my sixth week. My weight is not moving very much. Six weeks out and total lost is 20 pounds????

My support group talked about stalls last night and stalls are the time to start evaluating what your currently doing. Look at your Protein, Fluid intake, exercise and calories.

If all is good we just have to wait it out.

Not happy with that part ????

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
