I Got The Feeling....

Recommended Posts

So I just did my preliminary sleep study this weekend, and I started thinking today...I have one last dietary session and then my application can be submitted to the insurance. I'm super excited to be getting through this process so quick...but then it hit me...the feeling...I will be having surgery that's not required, and that its something I signed myself up for (my thought process..."OMG... what did I get myself into")...I am having a surgery to have more than half my stomach removed (I also found out that i'll be having my gaulbladder taken out too because of gaulbladder poylps) ... and all the sudden I got a nervous/scared type of feeling. My question is did any of you all go through this feeling prior to surgery? How was you able to get over that fear?

Yes Queen I did have the feelings of am i making the right decision, and im i crazy? they pretty much resolved themselves in time as things changed. i just had to re assure myself that it was the right decision for me, maybe not someone else but it was my choice and i knew what i was doing. i went years thinking about stomach surgery and watching many of my friends or co workers doing various surgeries before i decided what was for me. u seem like an intelligent person im sure u have read about it and know what ur geting into. its not uncommon to feel if ur nuts or if ur going to regret it. it was a great decision for me. give urself some time

Yes! I had the thought before and after my surgery, but it all is worth it to me when I can finally walk around the grocery store without feeling like I'm going to pass out and I can play an entire game of Kinect Sports with my girls and it's only been 3 almost 4 weeks! :) Just keep in mind what you are doing this for, my reason was for me but also my children. They are still young and I want to be able to play with them without saying I'm tired and them having a disappointed look on their face.

Yes I said to myself you hadn't been able to lose the weight by yourself thus far. So it's time to get really serious and use this tool being offered to me. I'm ready to change my life. My way of thinking about food, my relationship with food!! Those are my realities. We were all scared but I'm more scared of staying fat for the rest of my life. We all know that fat is only suffocating your organs. That was no way to continue my life. I had no major health problems but I don't want any either. Your gallbladder is a health problem for you. I went on Youtube and looked at every video and any other web page to make up my mind. I don't regret it after surgery I have lost pre, post total weight loss 23lbs in the last 14days !! This is one time I'm happy to be a LOSER!!! Lol!!! Ask us any question you are curious about it may help ease your fears. Take Care and continue to do your research.

I don't plan on changing my mind about the surgery, because everything that I have read out weighs the possible negative. I'm looking at this surgery in the "big picture" theory. I'm doing this to better myself for the future. I have stopped and thought to myself..."this is extreme"...But I know the end results will be worth it...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
