You'll probably get in about 500 - 600 calories.

Calories aren't important right now. You need to concentrate on drinking so you won't get dehydrated, and focus on Protein Drinks. When you get to regular foods, you can start keeping track of calories. There is no way you aren't going to lose so don't worry about that!

My doc and nut told me don't worry about calories for a while. Worry about your Water and protein....in that order. The calories are going to be very low, but if you get in your Protein the calories will take care of themselves....until you start eating regular food again.

Thank you all SO much! Ive been in such an awful mood today. Extremely frustrated. It is so hard to drink, drink, drink and eat!! The only thing I like is Isopure RTD cause they taste like gatorade. But its 20ozs and feels like a gallon right now. It goes down easy but still feels overwhelming. I try to rotate between that and Water. Im getting about 40 ozs of Fluid in, not all water! Terrible!!!!!!!! I ate total a cup of Soup. I hope I'm not totally bombing this!

Your fluids don't only have to be Water. Your Protein drinks (Isopure RTD), Soup, tea etc all count as Fluid.< /p>

The best way for me to drink that much Water is to flavor it with MIO flavoring (WalMart Great Value brand is much cheaper). I can't stand the taste of plain Water sinvce my surgery but I use this in strawberry/watermelon flavor and i don't have trouble drinking about 6 bottles a day! Try it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
