I have struggled with Water intake as many people do. I've found that flavoring the water helps me get it down (I hated flavored water pre-op). I am 8 weeks post op and I'm worried that I'm drinking too fast. I can take about 3 pretty good gulps at once and it goes down fine and no pain. Could I be doing damage by not taking small sips? The reason I've been drinking faster is that I take in less air that way.

I can take two and I am with you- I don't have any pain or discomfort. I think we are okay because liquid passes quickly through the sleeve as opposed to actually sitting in the stomach meaning solids) which might stretch if we are taking in too much. Just my two cents ;-)

I hope so. I had so much trouble drinking at first, if you take in the least bit air it hurts so bad. I was just afraid I may be stretching my sleeve. I would think that I would feel discomfort if I was taking In too much. Thanks!

Me too- I had a lot of trouble the first few weeks and now I am at week 8 post-op. I am with you on that we would get a warning signal from our stomachs, I would think. And its not like we can take gulps after gulps- I usually have to wait 5-10 minutes before I can gulp again.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
