shayv123 96 Posted October 23, 2012 So. I found out today during my EGD that I have a hiatal hernia (small). Has anyone else had one, and did it have any effect on your surgery?
Traci J. 207 Posted October 23, 2012 I believe they will fix it while they're doing the vsg, at least my Dr. does. 1 shayv123 reacted to this

shrinkydinkme 221 Posted October 23, 2012 They found that I had one during surgery and fixed it. Probably the reason I had such terrible acid reflux for years. None since surgery BONUS!
COnative 192 Posted October 23, 2012 I've heard most surgeons fix that problem during your surgery. Nice huh :-) 1 shayv123 reacted to this
Butterthebean 8,146 Posted October 23, 2012 It shouldn't cause you any issues, just don't try to lift anything or strain yourself for several weeks.

CaliKat 153 Posted October 23, 2012 I had a moderate hernia which was causing moderate to severe heartburn. My dr repaired it durring VSG. I took Omneprezrole for 3 months post op and quit. I have not had a SINGLE instance of heartburn since. That alone was worth the surgery!! 1 shayv123 reacted to this
