One Week Out And Having Many Ups And Downs

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on October 15 so one week. I have been doing fairly well with diet and pain. It just still really hard to deal with fast foods and junk with my son. It's like everyone wants to talk about food and I can't handle that right now.

It gets easier. But why not use it as an opportunity to improve your son's diet?

I'm with u!! It sucks my kids just brought home McDonald's.. and sat right in front of me and eat it.. I'm really not a big McDonald's fan but the food smelled sooo good.. I then thanked the kids for eating in front of me and their reply was Oh SORRY MOM WE FORGOT..

This may be a great opportunity to discuss with your son the negativity of fast food and junk food. The last thing you want your son to go through is what you're having to deal with. If I could do it over I would never have allowed my family to touch half the food I brought into the house as they were growing up... Literally!

Aside fom that.. I think this is a huge adjustment time and I wish you best and my prayers too

My son is 6. He doesn't get a lot of that kind of food it's just I'm like hypersensitive to the smell and thought of the food. I know I'll get through its just really hard right now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
