Bump In The Road Surgery 10/29 Biopsy Needed During Surgery

Recommended Posts

I am being sleeved next Monday. I had an ultrasound of my thyroid 2 weeks ago. I was diagnosed with thyroid disease (Hashimotos) last year. My nodules have shrunk (taking Synthroid) however my lymph nodes around my thyroid and neck are enlarged. I am scheduled for an MRI of my neck tomorrow then off to see a neck surgeon Wednesday. My Endo says it makes most sense to have the lymph node biopsy during sleeve surgery. I will see my stomach surgeon tomorrow to discuss further. I was thinking he can do the neck biopsy rather than bring in the neck surgeon. Anyway I'm nervous this week to begin with and now I have to worry about a neck biopsy/result pre and post surgery. I was wondering if anyone else experienced something similar? Thank you so much!

This can be very worrisome for you. But it's better to take care of the biopsy when your having your bariatric surgery. I wish they would of taken my gallbladder out with this surgery, but they didn't. Keep us posted as to how your doing. :) "HUGS"

Thank you Ms, skinniness! as you can imagine one week out my head feels like its going to explode! lol My Endo says the percentage is very low it will be cancerous and if so its very treatable, I can't help but wonder how my new anatomy would handle another surgery and or treatment, Good thing I see my surgeon tomorrow morning, he's awesome and hopefully can put my mind to rest. all of this came to fruition on Fruday! ugh

The last few days have been very stressful for you. It will get better. The good news is, they found what ever's going on with you early and it can be treated if need be. You will do fine. Hang in there and relax if possible. :)
