Ok, so i had my first heartburn attack today. It was my first day back to work and i didnt take my prilosec in the morning, thinking i could just take it when i got home. :0( i didnt think it would matter, as its not "fast acting" anyway. Either it mattered or something else is going on. Any thoghts? Im on one 20 mg pill per day.

Even on Prevacid I could never skip. Take it first or you will likely be miserable. That was probally the cause of the heartburn.

Does increasing the dose of PPI help with hunger for those 3+ months out? I take 1 Prilosec daily and found hunger returning. If it is acid, I can see an increase would help me.

That's great news. What times during the day do you take them? How long have you been on them? Did your md give you a time limit on how long u can stay on this schedule? Thanks in advance!

Does anyone ever wake up with a burning sensation in their chest? That is what I'm faced with and I'm on pantazole twice per day. sleeping upright is not fun.

I would say its likely heartburn gerd related. Have you talked with your Md?

Switched to Prevacid. What a relief! I went from feeling like my stomach was a raw wound to being not sensitive to Fluid. And I didn't have to sit up the whole night . Thanks folks

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
