Geez, i was glad to get rid of the band and go to the sleeve because all i did with the band was throw up. So happy that i am almost a month out and haven't had the urge to vomit even once.

However, i am also finding i am more hungry than i expected to be. Having to fight through that.

Is there supposed to be a progression when adding solids (like when introduced to babies)' date=' one food added so you can tell what caused a negative reaction, if any? Or does everyone just try a bit if everything all at once-not really knowing which food the stomach wants to reject? Ive always had sensitive digestion so for me, I'm going to have add items slowly, not what I want to do, but looks like I'll have to if I don't want to feel sick or vomit! [/quote']

Yes. My doctor did just that for me. I have to progress from liquids to puree to muchies to soft food to solids by introducing specific solids every week. Its like 6 diff solids I can add a week. I have a list of exactly what to eat. I have to pay attention to how I react (my sleeve) so I can see what she likes and doesnt like.

I'm terrifed of having this surgery between the severity of Hair loss to never being able to eat normally or have ones favorite foods, the throwing up diarrhea..OMG!! My consultation is November 21 here in NYC where I live. God Bless all of you for getting this surgery and i wish you all an abundance of blessings with your success. I hope I can do the same IF i decide to get it done.

mighty mo you will be fine. we dont dump like a rny patient. i have not thrown up yet so im one of few. you will be eating normal by 2 months after surgery just smaller amounts. the sleeve controls you you no longer have that food control.

Actually, I think we do dump on certain foods. It happened to me 3 times on higher fat foods, more so between 1-3 months out. Not at all now that I am out 4 months. Do others experience the fainting, the feeling like you are in space, loud ringing in the ears, rapid heart beat, indigestion and more?

Yup, i had a dumping episode just yesterday after making an unwise food choice. Dizzy, light headed, fast pulse, clammy skin, and digestive tract very unhappy. It all cleared once i passed the offending food, which didn't take long.

butterbean last i checked you didnt have a phd so dont tell me what i should be doing. and being your age you would be focused on what you think and write to ppl. nobody on here is perfect if they were they wouldnt be here including you.

i went through kaiser and on thier menu its 2 oz protien 1/4 cup carb and 1/4 cup veggie. the carb is rice potato sweet potato etc the veggies are whatever i want. ive known me for 47 years and been on so many diets i know the diffearn!ce between head and regular hunger.

thank you everyone else for your positve feed back.

I think she was just offering advice! We are all here to help each other, right? As with any advice, "eat the fish and spit out the bones", meaning we are all free to follow or disregard what seems to be a good fit for us...

no head hunger here its all stomach grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. its like it just empties out quickly

Are you taking PPI like Prilosec? If not, that will help. Likely acid and not hunger.

I'm taking Nexium, and i still feel hungry quite often. I'm kind of sad, i was hoping that the hunger would go away with this surgery. :(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
