I eat fast all the time have yet to figure out the slow eating and I eat off tiny little dessert dishes that hold about 2 ounces. My spoons, forks are smaller than toddler utensils their espresso and dessert forks and spoons very small. I still eat my 2,4 oz in a few minutes :( . I just don't know wth to do about it tg it don't hurt after I'm done or maybe that's a down side and why at 3 weeks I still eat to fast :( .

If you eat too fast, your food tries to get into your tummy too fast. You will get the slimes and a stuck feeling in your chest area. All you need to do to relieve it is go to try to throw up in the toilet and it will upchuck and pop right put for instant relief. There is really no nausea or " I need to throw up feeling first".

Iv never had the slimes. I have had the stuck feeling. I just ride it out rather then up chuck sure that would not feel good at 3 weeks. I eat all kinds of food just way to fast doc has me on anything as long as I chew well.

I always got the slimes when eating too fast plus an aweful stuck feeling in my throat. Sometimes the only way to get any relief was a trip to the bathroom. Thank goodness I no longer get this at 3.5 months, but it is still wise to eat slow and chew. I think doing this also helps build healthy eating habits for the future. Unfortunately, I never did learn the habit of taking 20 minutes to eat 3 oz of Protein so I will have to work harder in the future in order to not over eat. I am measuring everything out now so as long as my measuring continues, then eating fast will not be detrimental to my success. My advise is to learn the healthy eating habits not only to avoid pain, but to build a solid foundation of good eating habits when your restriction diminishes after 1-2 years.

I am at week three just eating until I am full and stop. Not measuring it all yet. Better to use a measuring cup or kitchen scale? Don't have one yet.

I was wondering how you were doing chad...how goes it?

I'm not post op but I plan on weighing and measuring everything. I want to establish best practices while I'm so restricted. Make sense?

At Walmart they have a little tiny glass measuring cup they look like a shot glass they hold 4 ounces and are microwavable. I used it like a bowl for the first two weeks. They are around 94c or a few dollars I can't remember exactly. I have a biggest loser scale as well for measuring food it's pretty easy to use.

Thank you for checking on me. Back to work tomorrow. Still walking and now eating soft foods. I took a lot of naps too. Tracking on my fitness pal has kept me more accountable. I can eat so little portions they are not a real issue yet, but u are right about measuring from the beginning.

I am having to change my ppi, had reflux before surgery. That's been a little difficult.

Down 46 since pre op and 28 in the last two weeks since surgery.

6 months out and I get what I can eat fast and what needs to be slow...if I eat chicken breast fast without chewing like 46 rimes, I will vomit. In turn, I can eat end,ess amount of yogurt or cottage cheese with no problem. I think the more fibrous or dry the Protein is, you really have to eat it slow. tuna salad on crackers, I can move pretty quickly through, I dont get sick, but Ido get the gurgles for an hour

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
