Anybody else having a terrible taste in the mouth and a fuzzy tongue? I'm not dehydrated, I'm getting in my liquids. It's gross and want it to go away.

Yes, I got it too for about 2 weeks after leaving the hospital. I never formally got it checked out, but did a lot of tongue scraping and gargling with mouth wash. Eventually it went away on its own. It was a pretty thick and nasty coating.

It can also be acid reflux causing it ,

If you can scrape it off with toothbrush it's Gerd tongue if it stays it is probably thrush

Acid reflux ' date=' I have that fuzzy white tongue every morning[/quote']

Thanks for the response.

It was pretty gross. I had no idea it acid reflux as I thought acid reflux was a burning sensation in the throat after eating something extra spicy or high in fat.

I was told it is a side effect of ketosis. Mine started at about 2 weeks and even at 3.5 months still have it every morning.

When your body is in ketosis you are burning fat so it is gross but a good thing.

:) good maybe it's that and my body has turned

In to a fat burning machine ... I like that better than reflux

Yes, that furry tongue is how I know I'm doing things right (also the numbers on the scale ;-}). At first it was definitely something to get used to!!

You can search on here for ketosis and should find a lot of info on how it works.

Burning fat is always good!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
