remember less in makes for less output:-) Me and 4 of my friends who had the surgery only go about 1 or 2 times per week. Make sure you are drinking Water.< /p>

Get some Miralax and mix it in your shakes. As I got further out, I then switched to stool softeners. YOU ARE NOT ALONE in this tmi segment you posted. :) Hang in there! It gets easier!

And I hate Water, but love crystal light like add ins. My current addiction is "crush" flavors that I found at Family Dollar or Dollar General of all places.

Best of luck! xx Stephanie

I tried laxitives and powders but they really do not make a difference. When are you are able to exercise, running really helps. You know sort of impacts everything down in the correct area, hee hee I dont think there is such thing as TMI on this site:-)

I just had my surgery oct 15th and I was just wondering how long does it take for you to have a bowl movement. My stomach hurts like crazy and everyone is telling me to gas. It's so hard what did you all do?

I know the feeling!!! Per my pre-op guidelines, I take Dulcolax Stool Softener (2 tabs every other day) to keep me regular. But at your stage, you are barely eating, don't expect any big movements

After surgery, I went a week without going. My dr said it was fine. For me, drinking a little hot Water or Decaf coffee will get things moving.

Someone suggested Smooth Move tea on my TMI post a week ago.... Almost mth out.... It worked and was pretty mild compared to a laxative , I made that mistake And almost died! Lol anyways I liked it I let my self get a week out and uncomfortable before I use anything. Good luck.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
