Recommended Posts

Ok, I have just read on another post that Explosive Farts, Loaded Farts is an issue after the sleeve.

WTF, I can't be Sharting Myself..... I wouldn't be able to live with it if I Sharted my self at Work.

Is this really an issue???

Did YOU Shart yourself???

Please Tell, Please, please, Please.

LOL. No Not yet- I'm 7 weeks out and it's never happened. I pray it never will- thought that was only supposed to happen when you are 80 and older.

I never let that happen. I did have a few non-productive trips to the restroom, never trust a fart

I actually did (embarassing to admit) when I was out of town at a conference. To make matters worse, my luggage was already packed and checked in. I was lucky in I found a vacant bathroom with a handicapped stall and was able to throw out the "evidence" (complete with really nice undies) and then wash up. Everything went ok the rest of the day but it taught me a lesson.

I attribute it happening to the fact I was just starting pureed foods (liquid in-liquid out), it was 90 degrees outside and I had been walking a mile in the heat and was dehydrated. it happened shortly after I got in and started drinking cold Water.

I keep a pair of pants and underwear at work. Even though it has only happened once since surgery (7 weeks ago), it was once too often!

At 4 months post-op, I've never experienced anything even remotely like this. I'm wondering if the people who have are eating this they shouldn't be eating (sugary/high carb/high fat/etc). I don't eat anything with sugar added, avoid simple carbs (potatoes, rice, Pasta, breads, etc), and keep to low-fat/fat-free whenever possible. Perhaps that's the ticket.

Shart!!!! OMG I'm dying of laughter! The "never trust a fart" credo cracked me up last week, now this! It's weird.. Pre-surgery a gurgling stomach would be a warning that somethin's a-brewin' down there. Now the gurgling happens all the time-hungry gurgle, while-eating gurgle, post-eating gurgle. Maybe its when the gurgling stops post-op that you have to worry!! Just in case, I'm bring some 'emergency items' back to work with me when I go back on Monday! Thanks for the laugh and tips!

It's most likely to happen within the first couple of weeks. Your digestive system is freaking out after the preop diet, surgery, Clear Liquids, full liquids....it's nuts. You have gas. You have diarrhea...then you're constipated. Then one day you try to fart....and you go too far. It happens.

My advice is everyone should carry some extra "provisions" with them after surgery until you're digestive sytem gets back to normal.

I hate to admit it as well but after surgery I had an episode of sharting. Thank goodness I was at home, this did occur right after surgery and hasn't happened since.

This post is funny. But I do have a question also: what about the people with IBS?

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
