I am not sure how to do this..First time...

I had my Band done Sept 5th 2006, at the Northwest Weight loss Surgery Center in Everett Wa.

I am not sure what to eat now, I always seem to be hungry. I am anxious to have the fill..

Any suggestions how what toeat so I feel full? Or what not to eat?

Thank you:hungry:

protiens first vegetables then fruit in that order you probably won't get restriction for a few fills. or more you will have to be patient .

Hi Nana and :welcome: to the LBT. Congratulations on getting banded.

About eating and do's and don'ts, here's a couple of things to consider:

  1. What instructions did the surgeon give you about the eating plan you should be following? Were there any written instructions with do's and dont's? Your surgeon's recommendations "trump" any advice we can give you.
  2. For general information about eating after the band, here's a link to a really informative pamphlet I found that talks about the band and what to expect. Starting about page 25, there is a section on eating post surgery. Click here: http://www.lapbandsolutions.com/94829E_LB_Patient_Book.pdf
  3. There is a separate forum called "food" that you can look at as well that has recipes and suggestions.

Good luck to you on this new path your life is taking! :clap2:

Jo Ann

Did you get all the info on what to eat from NWWLS? I got a lot of stuff. you could also call them and get ideas.

At this point, you are 4 weeks out, so can start on some solids. I'd started with more salmon and chicken, just added other things in.

The basic rule is lean Protein, then produce, then grains.

Hi and welcome to LBT! The other posters have already given you some great advice. Have you checked out the food forum at http://www.lapbandtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=9 ? It has great suggestions for each stage of the band.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
