We're getting this done a few days apart... wish we could give hugs for support! How are you doing? Positive thinking? Negative thinking? Where are you at?

:kiss2: Hi, I'm Lois and scheduled to be banded Nov 6 by Dr. Deol in Sterling Heights, Mi. Scared and excited. I'm on the liquid diet now and not liking it much. Does anyone know if more people are fine afer surgery than are not? After surgery we are just supposed to sip Water or juice and broth the first few days then move on to smoothies and such, but at what point do we start worrying about getting enough Protein. I don't know how you can get protein the first few days. Thanks for any help anyone can give me. I've been looking and reading on this site for about a month now and find it very helpful. Eveyone seems to be so great.

I just got Banded on Halloween at Henry Ford Hospital. My name is Shirley.

Protien is the key healing factor for those tissues. This stuff is called

Muscle Milk. It promotes healing, gives you youre protien that you need, and it helps burn fat. "It really works!" You can go to G.N.C. and they are like $49.00 a jug. "it's expensive stuff, but it works" or go on ebay and

type in muscle milk and watch it come up. Now read all the adds, and you will come upon a guy that sells 4 jugs, any flavor that he has for about $59.00 plus shipping. His add will also read cheapest on ebay or internet.I'm in S.C.S. and trust me I am a returning customer.

You will need between 60-80 g of Protien a day. 80 if you are healing any new tissue. like I am.They told me clear fluids for 1 day, then Soups, jello's,and Muscle Milk. Get Back Shirley.....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
