I had the surgery on Oct 11 and went back to work yesterday. Feeling GREAT. I was off the pain meds within 36 hours and was totally pain free and getting around like nothing happened. The post-op liquids are doing great and I really could have gone back to work on Monday. Incisions are healing quickly and I am truly amazed at the recovery. Energy level is up and life is good. I was really apprehensive after reading all of the stories here in the forum, but I guess I am the exception.

I was in the O.R. at 7:30 AM and back at home at 11AM the next day.

Started this journey on May 4th at 474 and was determined to get below 400 for the surgery. after insurance hassles/delays, I wheeled into the O.R at 397 lbs. Since the surgery (9 days), I hit 387 today; that is 28% of my goal. I have inspired my entire family to loose with me and drop the LBS!

I would definately do this again and encourage others. I think I had the best surgeon and surgical team in the world!

Hello,

Thanks for sharing your story!!! This is very encouraging to hear. I am getting sleeved soon (Nov 13th) and the complication stories are very scary and then I start to doubt myself!!!

Love your story!!!

Best,

The complication stories do scare me but I have been given so much inspiration that I think of the complications as like 1 in 1,000,000 and that helps me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
