I have gone from wide to normal width, but if you search the site, you will find a few threads on this topic saying people have gotten smaller.

I used to wear a 9w and now none of my shoes fit. I'm in an 8.5 medium 35 days post-op.

I wore a 15w before surgery and can wear a regular 15 now, maybe even a 14w depending on the shoe brand.

I lost a whole size, from 9 to 8. It was quite a pain cause I had bought a pair of great running shoes and in 3 months they didn't fit.

I went from 8 1/2 to 7 1/2

My feet swelled a lot before, my fingers too. My rings are all huge on me now and had to buy new shoes

My wedding bands are now on my pointer fingers. Going to get them sized but I want to get to goal first cause I want them to have to cut them or whatever they do just once.

This is good to know. I recently bought sandals and boots a 1/2 size smaller (they were on sale) in anticipation for a bit of shrinkage after the surgery. I too will be glad they won't look like Miss Piggy feet!!

I went from a 9-10 W depending on brand and type, to a 8m, and in heels sometimes 7.5 - no kidding. I was told by an orthopedic therapist that is is due to the weight loss off the soles of the feet, but also we apparently store a bit of fat in the structure of the foot itself.

I sprained my foot BADLY the week before my when i lost 40+ pounds. It was all black and blue. We thought I'd broken it. Almost postponed my surgery.

What happened was my foot got thinner and I was walking down a set of stairs right after i'd slipped on my tennis shoes. I didn't notice that my foot was too loose in the shoe and my ankle twisted side ways. Man, I cried and screamed like a baby. Sprains are nasty. I still have problems with it.

Moral of story: with weight loss, make sure your shoes fit!!! ;-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
