Hello. I posted for oct bands. I will be banded next week. I am drinking the gross liquid shakes they want us to and have begun prepping my husband on the diet and food changes.

I am in virginia, self pay, I love kickboxing and motorcycles. I am married to a twig (at 6ft- he weighs in at a huge 155)

I am hoping this surgery helps me lose 80- 100 lbs. I am not trying to be Kate moss just healthy.

I have been on this board as a guest but figured that it was time to log in since the time is near and i may have questions for all of you.

Hey Big Girl, glad you decided to post. I, too, lurked for a long time before joining. It seemed like the information had to percolate in my head for awhile before I even knew what to ask.

So you're on the pre-band home stretch. Congratulations, and keep us posted.

Welcome! i will be banded on October 19th. I am in the prep phase. I just went to Health food Store and bought whey Protein Drinks. I'm going to test it today to see if I like it or move onto another brand. Next year at this time you will look totally different.

Hi there and welcome! I am so glad you decided to start posting with us. :biggrin1:

Oh my, I so remember the liquid shakes. But, the important thing to remember is the reward, which will be your band. I usually do not promote getting on the scale daily, but during the pre-op stage, I found it was a huge motivator for sticking to the shakes by getting on the scale every two days and seeing the weight literally drop off.

It is great that you will have the support of your hubby. Encourage him to check out the board too. There is a wealth of information here that may be helpful to him, especially immediately post-op.

Thank you Susan 4794! I NEVER even thought to get my husband on for support/information. He is curious, trying to be suportive, confused about the right foods etc. That is an EXCELLENT idea.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
