TheRealMeIsHere! 863 Posted October 18, 2012 All my life, I've bounced between 275lbs and 115lbs. Now that I am nearing my goal (hopefully for the last time), I'm feeling social and energetic. I always feel better about myself when I am thin, and am basically a hermit when I am fat. The last time I was thin, I lived in a different area, so now don't have any friends, in my area. How do I meet people? I don't work, as I am on permanent disability, I do go to the gym everyday, but most people, including myself, are focused on working out not socializing. There are MANY things I enjoy, hiking, music, camping, arts & crafts, learning new skills, horses, animals, children, movies, books, plays, construction and home repair, etc... How do I begin to have a social life?? 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
Ms.AntiBand 2,984 Posted October 18, 2012 Volunteering in an area of your interests is always a good way to expose yourself to friendships. Humane society, local schools, clubs as in book club, hiking club etc. Also, I worked with several people who have joined the group called " meetup" in specific areas and they swear by it. They have some very good friendships and group meetings dependant on interests a hobbies good luck and have fun 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
TheRealMeIsHere! 863 Posted October 19, 2012 I do volunteer at the skilled nursing unit, where my mom is. Besides that hospital, there is not much around here, as far as volunteer opportunities. Meetup, seems like a great thing, I've been a member for about a year but haven't been able to attend any outings due to finances and/or timing (have night blindness and have a really hard time driving after dusk) I LOVE being out and about, and with a fun group of people! Do I just have too many constraints to work around? Is it not possible to meet some fun-loving people, if you haven't lived in the same area all your life?
